What an experience!!! What a cinema!!! % definitely worth a visit!!! We came here 6 years ago for our first date, and last night we returned ↩. An amazing quaint little cinema in the heart of Belper. Completely under estimated, under rated and under sold. It’s great going to the ‘normal’ showcase or IMAX etc, but nothing beats the experience of a 1935 cinema, with a sofa and hot chocolate in mugs! The Hot Chocolate is Beautiful . If you’d like a sofa they are limited, so booking in advance is definitely necessary. It’s £22 for a sofa which a bargain! Yes, I know you can get recliners elsewhere, , but a super soft comfortable sofa is just perfection! The Ritz Cinema is easy to find with parking less than 50metres away. With reasonable parking charges too. The cinema has been very well maintained, the staff are super friendly and take pride in the ‘Gem’ they have, looking after it to a very high standard. You could eat your dinner off the Toilet Floor … and when was the last time you used a flannel to dry your hands in a public toilet? I Loved this idea The whole experience is just superb! As a top tip, be sure to watch a longer film so you get to stay longer Ritz Cinema also only have a selection of films. One movie at a time, 1 room and one screen ! Try to watch a film that has that old fashioned set, like Titanic or La La land for example, it makes the visit much more interesting. Enjoy
Took our 3 eldest grandchildren to see a strange world, as a Christmas present, in the posh seats at the back, they loved it, it's a brilliant little cinema that really look after you, highly recommend.
A lovely cinema, very nice atmosphere and very clean. Staff are lovely and all the facilities are well maintained. It would be nice if there was more waiting/seating area before the show, but it's a small venue so can't complain too much!
What a hidden gem of a cinema! I really detest modern multiplex cinemas - they have NO personality whatsoever. However I appreciate that some of the old, small cinemas can be a little cramped and the sound can be underwhelming at times. Belper Ritz absolutely hits the sweet spot for me. It's not that small - the auditorium is a decent size - but it feels personal. There's a nice entrance lounge with cake, tea, coffee, a small selection of ice cream, sweets, chocolate, pick and mix, and a few alcoholic drinks. It's not going to cater for your every whim, but it's intimacy and cosy. The tea comes in proper mugs rather than plastic cups for example. The staff are just superb and I can't rate them highly enough. What lovely people! There are lovely snuggly sofas available with a table each end as well as larger seats on offer for those who want additional comfort. Seats are not reserved, so arrive early for the best spot. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this beautiful traditional cinema, and I will most definitely be returning. I'd say this is probably the best cinema I've ever been to when taking all factors into account - it's well worth using as an alternative to the anonymous multiplexes!
Amazing old style cinema. Love the choice of drinks, cakes and snacks to take in whilst you watch the film too. Great staff, always friendly. Highly recommended. Recommend to book too.
What a gem of a place.. small cinema but not at all commercial.. all drinks on offer from tea and coffee served in proper mugs to wine and CAKE! Never seen a cinema sell home baked cakes before.. well worth a visit if you're in the area

Quaint little cinema, warm and friendly area. Just like you remember them from years ago, only with all the modern touches. Well worth a visit. You can buy food, drinks and even alcohol if you so require.
Nice easy chilled experience! Great staff, lovely cosey place with comfy sofas has other seating types too enjoyed a nice glass of wine to sit back n enjoy the movie with too, bonus
Ample parking nearby. Good cinema, always kept clean. Good choice of options for seating. Admission lines can be quite long when busy. Nice place to enjoy a coffee and cake while catching a movie on the big screen.
