Only discovered this place thanks to the Yorkshire Puffin Trail. They've got one of the puffins here between the lakes. There's plenty of parking areas. Lovely wooded countryside. Great little café plagued by wasps, but they're only pollinators so easy enough to let them be. which serves fantastic homemade cakes. Yum! The area is very much an angler's/ fisherman's zone with no access around the lakes for the public, as is made abundantly clear by the plethora of some shouty signs. But of course, folk being folk, they get word and sign blind and carry on regardless, tsk tsk. I would have liked to walk to the folly by the lake too but no access. Ra rah for the puffin helping me discover more territory!
A friend recommended I visit here. What a gem! It's lovely! I've been 4 times in 2weeks with different friends. The cakes are amazing. Lots of different seating areas and very tranquil. Lovely staff.

Another good day, ended up with 5 carp both mirror and common from 8.4lb to 12.6lb. But, may I recommend that unhooking mats and carp care is promoted on site. It's great to see novices trying their hand at fishing and parents taking kids, but sad to see fish being thrown on the Bank with no mats not unhooked with any care, released by dropping in, photos being taken while standing. It's a sad fact that nearly all the carp in all lakes have seriously damaged mouths and other damage. I'm sure some of the more experienced fishermen on the lake, me included, would be more than happy to give advise to the less experienced people. More monitoring by bailiff, even volunteer ones. Thanks.
Cycled over to risby , lovely day lovely ride and best of all a lovely cafe . Good food ,plenty of choice and friendly helpful staff. Very picturesque place To stuff you face . Loved it will definitely be back.
Lovely place well worth a visit, the cafe was great lovely food, toilet facilities available, nice staff.
A really great place to visit staff are friendly and polite the food is good and it's a pleasant place to spend time that will only get better in the summer.

We had a walk round it just to see the ruin, lots of people fishing and we could see some big fish in the pond, there is a nice little cafe there too.
Went here during our walk from Skidby. A really nice place with plenty of seating and a fishing lake.
