Now called Jordans Cafe. Popped in for a quick coffee and Bakewell tart. Quick and pleasant serviceFood: 5/5
We have eaten here tonight and last night and the food is delicious. Expect a slight wait, BUT as all the food is made from scratch the wait is worth it. Its not very expensive either. The garlic bread was the best we've had. The staff are as good as anywhere, the lady does a fantastic job especially.
This is now called Jordan cafe. It's a great place. Very clean, friendly, reasonable prices and great coffee. If you've been staying away, go back - it's really good Food: 5/5
Great, tasting pizza made with quality ingredients and served with a smile. The elderly couple owners? attending our table were second to none, nothing was too much trouble, gave us great advice, accomodated all our wishes and were always smiling!!! Such wonderful people. Food was delish and tasty! My husband is Italian so we can say hand on heart the pizza has nothing to do with the genuine pizza served in Italy esp the base and it is more American than Italian but it did not dissapoint at all as very fresh and yummy. We were impressed by the home made marinera sauce, infused olive oil, both full of flavour and lush mozarella cheese. Would def return and recommend! Thank you for a lovely experience x
Asked for 10 inch pizzas, they came out 6 with about 2 inches of crust all the way round..... so about 4 inch pizzas really. But to fair the boxes were tiny too so at least the chef wasn't trying to overcompensate.... Also, not sure what Fior de Latte meant on the menu? Presumably it's Italian for fish vomit? Or maybe foot sweat? Couldn't quite put my finger on the taste. Wouldn't want to either.
Stopped here for an early dinner after a day of sight seeing. This family run cafe is cosy and their food fantastic. The pizza toppings are generous to the the least. The owners are really friendly. The prices are very reasonable you will definitely feel like you are getting value for money. Only thing to note is that they only accept cash so be prepared when you go.
What a little treasure in Bakewell! Lovely homemade and hearty Italian food in a cute place served by the most delightful couple. The food is delicious and very reasonable with well-sized portions available in three size options too! We ordered the veggie and regular lasagna, two pizzas, spaghetti Bolognese, sandwich and two starters. Everything was really tasty and the pesto swirls we ordered for starters were definitely our favourite. A must visit if you’re around in Bakewell or the Peak District area.
Stopped at this cafe while out on a bike ride with a friend. Friendly staff, quick service, drinks tea/latte were very good and the chocolate cake was on point, will be back again.
We came to this restaurant as it was advertised as gluten free and Italian. We were immediately “greeted” by 3 teenagers who were lackadaisically changing the sign for the building, we approached unsure if it was even open. We asked and they confirmed it was but they mostly seemed focused on chatting and ignored us as we walked into the tiny restaurant. The owner was sat on his laptop and informed us they were moving to a new location. We confirmed what they had for GF options and they told us the pizza was the only option. We ordered a GF pizza, pasta, and a lasagna. The teenager employees bemoaned their needing to do work and slowly made their way back to the kitchen where they laughed and joked around without much haste towards actually making our food. One of the employees mimicked themselves drinking the “white sauce” in the fridge and made gagging noises implying the food was gross/inedible before letting the owner know it was old/had gone off. He let us know the lasagna could be made without the sauce and we agreed apprehensively. The staff continued to complain and whine about having to make food and continued to loudly proclaim the process would take a lot of time. At around this point a staff member made it clear they didn’t have any wax paper. The owner asked her to go and get some from the store and she whined and complained more about how long it would take and eventually left to go to the store and get wax paper. This whole time the owner is sitting next to us explaining that the restaurant is in complete disrepair because they are moving to a bigger location. In my head I am concerned as to how this business has trouble accommodating 3 orders and no one else, managing a bigger customer base seems a fantastical endeavour. The girl sent to get wax paper returns at a wandering pace to let the owner know she couldn’t find any at the store. He proceeds to let us know 2 of the 3 items we ordered cannot be completed because of this apparently integral kitchen item. We got our refund and left. We will not be returning. Dietary restrictions: The menu implied gluten pasta was at some point available but the staff informed us they did not have it. Gluten free pizza was the only option offered.
Excellent authentic thin crust Italian pizza, made by an owner who really cares about the quality of his dough and traditional skills like hand stretched bases. Friendly service with a sense of humour. Will be back! Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian selection, marinaras vegan as standard Dietary restrictions: Gluten free dough available
