Building dating back from 1450 or so, a farmhouse until the 1960's and running as a restaurant and hotel for over 40 years.
Now part of Anglian Country Inns (ACInns - Head office in Willian, nr Letchworth).

Story

Restored 15th century Farmhouse with beautiful gardens and views across the Hertfordshire countryside. Find us mid-way between Hitchin and Stevenage and enjoy farm to fork dining in our restaurant and afternoon tea in our Old Kitchen. A perfect venue for weddings and celebrations with 12 guest rooms and a 70-cover restaurant (incl. private rooms)

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel. Management has changed over the last 12 months, but this hasn't had an impact on the friendly welcome and great service we've seen previously. The rooms are well appointed, under floor heating in the bathrooms, comfy beds, spacious apartments. The restaurant is spread over a number of rooms, we had the oak room for two nights to celebrate a family birthday. Service was excellent, the food lovely and there was a great atmosphere. Overall a fantastic stay.

Lovely place to stay. I could have sat by one of the open fires all day and enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The food tasted great, best falafel I have ever had was so light and all well presented. Well recommend for both somewhere to stay and as somewhere to eat. Would love to stay here again.

There's a lot going on at the moment: building new facilities and changes in the restaurant, with more attractive wooden tables and more comfortable chairs. The dinner menu is very much better and all the dishes were well cooked and most pleasant to eat. The service is attentive but not obtrusive.

My colleagues and I had a really enjoyable meal for our Christmas lunch. The staff were very friendly and patient. We were very impressed with the conservatory which improved the atmosphere on a miserable rainy day. Only one of us got the Christmas plate but it looked gorgeous and a very ample portion. I was very pleased with my vegetarian option meal. It didn't feel like the veg meals were an afterthought on the menu but they put real consideration into making a hearty, warm winter dish. PS My colleague wants to know where you got your handsoap! She said it smelled lovely. She also said her Beef Short Rib dish was delectable. I remember she cleaned her plate with your lovely Sourdough bread.
