Car park was great with electric car chargers if required. Only issue there is they are shared with disabled bays. So you may not get to charge your vehicle.nFood stops at 21:00 which is very early for travelling business men, I missed out on food two nights in a row for this reason which was a shame.nnI had a suite, at first glance it was pretty cool but after the first night it wasn’t so great. There was female hair on the floor in the bathroom a long with a hair clip covered in hair. Other than that it was ok bathroom wise.nThe bed wasn’t the most comfortable I would have preferred a premier inn if there were one close enough for my needs.nMy biggest issue was noise, the windows are single glazing and they don’t close properly so you can hear people talking and shouting out in the street which isn’t great if you need to be up early in the morning.nAlso, it was VERY apparent that whoever stayed in this suite prior to me had been smoking cannabis in the room, it absolutely stunk for the duration of my stay. It’s a case of, get what you pay for I guess. It served its purpose but next time I will stay else where.
No heating in room. Hot water barely flowing from tap in bathroom. Room in annexe five minutes walk from reception which for someone with difficulty walking was not acceptable. Reception does not answer when phoned. Only solution was to provide us with portable heaters. I would NOT recommend this hotel under any circumstances.
We stayed at this hotel for a wedding, as it was the recommended accommodation for guests. At first glance, the hotel seemed pleasant, and check-in was fairly straightforward. However, we were not informed beforehand—either when booking or during check-in—that there was no lift. This made things quite difficult as we were traveling with our 8-month-old daughter and all the essential items needed for her stay. Despite our obvious struggle carrying everything up the stairs, no staff offered any assistance.nnWhen we finally made it to our room 133, which was quite a distance from reception, we noticed immediately that the room had not been properly cleaned. There were nail clippings and bits of rubbish scattered on the floor, and the spare bed appeared as though someone had been eating in it. We informed the front desk and asked if there were any other rooms available. Unfortunately, the only alternatives were rooms situated above the function area, which were expected to be noisy until around 11 p.m. Since this wasn’t an ideal option for us, we requested the room to be cleaned.nnA staff member did come to vacuum, but it made little difference, and my partner ended up picking up the nail clippings himself.nnTo make matters worse, the fire alarm went off at 9:30 a.m the next morning, waking our daughter from her nap after she had only slept for half an hour. Given that it was the day of the wedding, this disruption was particularly upsetting as we wanted to ensure she was well-rested.nnUpon checking out, we asked to speak with a manager because no notes had been made regarding the issues we encountered during check-in, and no apologies or gestures of goodwill were offered. The manager came to speak with us, but again, no apology was given. We were told they would follow up with us on Monday after discussing the situation with the staff member who worked on Friday. It is now Tuesday, and we have yet to receive any communication from the hotel.nnOverall, the experience was extremely disappointing. As someone who has worked in customer service for over 20 years, I understand the importance of addressing customer concerns promptly and with sincerity. Unfortunately, poor service tends to stand out more than good service, and in this case, it was very much the former. On a positive note, the restaurant staff and the lady who checked us out were polite and accommodating.nn** Update: Since posting this review, we have been contacted by the hotel manager, who sincerely apologized and provided a solution that we are satisfied with. As a result, I have updated my rating from 1 star to 3 stars. Given the many positive reviews, we are willing to give Hotel Cromwell another chance during future visits, as we believe our experience was an isolated incident **
Terrible hotel. Service non existent. Room was freezing heating not working. Front desk did not know how to work heating. The noise in the rooms - loud all night can hear people flushing the loo and walking around everywhere. Even basic toiletries not provided. This is a major corporate hotel for the area and needs to upgrade if wants business. They dont even have takeaway coffee cups. The room was very bright and street lights coming in as curtains wont close well. I just needed a food night sleep after a long day at work and unfortunately was up all night. Staff not the friendliest bunch so not very approachable. Its very expensive for what you get. I would go to holiday inn next time at least has the basics.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and the beds exceedingly comfortable. Lovely soft cotton bedding is used and mattresses so comfy, soft and not hard and firm like many other hotels. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice. Not happy about having to pay over £3 for a latte though. Breakfast here is not cheap so it should be included.nnI did not appreciate being abruptly woken up at 2.30am by the fire alarm apparently due to someone running a bath and the steam of the bath setting it off. Surely there should be a better system than this as to not wake the entire hotel due to steam and not smoke?! Running down the stairs in my underwear and just a t shirt dazed and confused thinking there was a fire was really quite upsetting and embarrassing! This then led me to think about how much of a maze the hotel is and if I had a room located in a different place and how daunting it would have been to find my way out in the event of a fire. I think it's really important to address this and for your reception staff to clearly identify to guests exactly where the fire exits are should the worst happen. I've stayed here a few times now and never been told where the fire exits are.nnI was going to give 3 stars due to the fire alarm situation but the hotel itself is so lovely it doesn't deserve 3 stars but please sort out the fire alarm system because I really don't want this to be an issue when I next stay.
