We stayed in a holiday flat in the region and passed by several times on our excursions. We booked a table for the last evening. One of the best local places we visited during the week. Super relaxed and friendly service, plus a good selection of food. Everything was served very appetisingly and was really tasty. If we lived nearby, we would visit more often.
The food is top notch every time at The Railway. Homely family run pub that has a good friendly village pub vibe. Great menu choices and a frequently updated specials board. The staff really go above a beyond to make the experience perfect. I was dining with vegan guests and Alice recommended various options and made our guests feel very welcome about their dietary requirements.
We had a lovely Sunday Roast here celebrating Mothering Sunday. Plenty of staff on to deal with the busy day which certainly helped to keep it running smoothly and the wait times down! The food was delicious, we all had the Roast Beef and each and everyone one of ours was cooked to perfection! My only slight negative was the chocolate brownie wasn’t as Chocolate-y as I was expecting, more cake consistency then gooey brownie but that’s probably me just being an over-critical brownie connoisseur! It was still delicious and we all left with plates wipes clean! We will certainly be back that’s for sure!
Very mixed experience. We had lunch on a Tuesday afternoon, so a very quiet time to visit and sure enough there was not many people there when we arrived. We ordered our drinks and mains and they came promptly and were very nice, however one of the burgers was missing one of its toppings as they'd run out of brisket. We then ordered desserts. A simple Eaton mess and 2 chocolate brownies and ice cream. We waited. And waited. And after about 30 mins or so we asked if they'd forgotten them as that seemed a long time to wait for something so simple between 14.00 and 15.00 on a Tuesday. Eventually at 15.12 our desserts arrived some 50 minutes after ordering, 1h 22 mins after our mains, with an apology for the time taken. About to tuck in I noticed we had no ice cream on the brownies so I had to go find someone to ask what had happened. Eventually someone came to tell us there was an issue with the freezer and there wasn't any. I wish we had been told this 45 mins earlier as we'd not have stayed and waited. We wasted some precious family time on something which didn't arrive and my family had to then get their boat home instead of a planned visit elsewhere.
Nicely presented with outside seating area and great quality food. Thai Green curry was a bit too hot for me personally.
Had a delicious Sunday pork belly lunch. It was delicious! Huge portion, only gripe I could think of and I'm picking here. The spuds could have been crispy. Quite a few flies around but that's part and parcel and doesn't reflect the staff nor the food. Delicious
Stopped here for Sunday lunch. Very good beef roast, but the veggie nut roast was even better. Not sure about the peas in an apple crumble though! Would definitely return for some of the other dishes on the menu too.
We came and surprised one of our friends for his birthday meal out this past weekend. The food was lovely - came out rather quickly considering it was a roast dinner which made us feel a little rushed. Drinks wise - we ordered a small and large glass of wine but when they arrived they were both a large glass which meant we just had to go with it. The potatoes where a little overdone and there wasn't any break down on what vegetables you would be getting which meant that you just accepted what they gave you. I would be inclined on the menu to just make sure people know what vegetables they get as some of us on the table didn't want the veg they served i.e. red cabbage Overall it was a great meal and we really enjoyed this
Really excellent food, service and ambiance. Myself and my friend had a great evening, first time eating here and we had a great meal , one of the best
Excellent food and atmosphere, friendly staff too.
