Super place for a walk, especially on a week day as it's quiet and tranquil. Very natural and nature can be spotted. Free parking (thank you to those who made that possible). Would of given 5* but not a single bin out on route isn't great but for me it's the 7pm gate close. Therefore hardly possible when your working to finish, get home, get your dogs and get there and have a walk before 7pm. Would rule many people out. Winter fair enough but through the summer and light nights? Shame.

A great peaceful place for walking as a family or if you have a dog. There is nearly always an ice-cream van serving the usual, plus hot and cold drinks. There are also toilets here which are free, as is the parking.

Rabbit Ings is a country park built on an old industrial site.  There are 5 or 6 km of gentle paths, taking in heath, farmland, woods and ponds.  There is a good range of wildlife and plants.  There is parking onsite, which is open during daylight hours.  The park is family and dog friendly.

Beautiful place, excellent for a steady stroll and outdoor enthusiasts. Dedicated running trail and can cycle round there. There is a car park near Royston or a bridleway to access from shafton. Hidden gem within Barnsley, enjoy
