The Jolly Sailor is a great place to head on a sunny day for a drink by Southsea common. Although drinks are on the pricey side it has a fairly large outdoor area over looking the common. I was there recently for a Christmas party and it was a good night, we had great music lots of other Christmas parties going on and there was a great party atmosphere. My meal was nice, although parsnips could've done with longer in the oven. Overall good party vibe, great place to visit in the summer but be prepared to pay a bit more for your drinks.

Great live band, friendly environment and staff very helpful but due to it being a good band it was very busy so slight delay in getting drinks from bar but it was a great night. Door staff very helpful

Extremely nice pub lunch, probably the best burger I've eaten. Great service. Smiling lady behind the bar👍😀

I paid for an en-suite room which cost £60, I thought that was quite reasonable as many rooms that were available in various locations around Pompey were well over £100. The room was clean and good sized double bed was provided. My only issue was that because of a glass panel above the door the passage way light was on, I did turn it off a couple of time but obviously other guests needed to navigate their way to rooms. It would be better for light sensitive sleepers like myself if the glass panel was covered or the passage light put on a timer. Apart from that a decent stay was had.

I don't no about the dinner but sitting down with a drink while on a live band night is a joke. All the seats and tables are reserved for what maybe locals. No good for a drink! It used to be a great drinking hole but no more.
