Always good food but staff seem to change very often, maybe with their sister restaurant across the road, so service is different. Staff always friendly and would recommend.Service: 4/5
Wow what a stay. Yes the room was small but the bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept in. Staff lovely and on hand 24/7. Spotlessly clean room. The garden restaurant was amazing and poached eggs for breakfast spot on. I cant think of 1 single niggle and will return soon. Thank you!Rooms: 5/5
Beautifully presented rooms in superbly renovated Edwardian house. Part of a group of hotels, plus a restaurant and pub, in Southsea. Easy access for the sea front and broader attractions of Portsmouth.Rooms: 5/5
It's a nice B&B, not sure if our room was missing the'Boutique' bit! Shower fantastic, bed very comfortable. Bathroom had no shelving, the shower soaps etc where wedged on the window sill. The occupants above us on our first night were hell, the second night were a lot better, there toiletries were very easy to identify! Breakfast 100 percent . Permit parking in the street was a challenge, but we survived.
We stayed here for our wedding night the room was superb & clean bed was lovely, not too soft. Bathroom was great, a deep bath with TV double sink so weeach had a tap. Breakfast here is very highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Stayed here on the weekend for my birthday. What a great place it was to stay. Room was very big and hotel was clean throughout. Breakfast was great and service was superb from arrival. Can't fault this place and would defiantly recommend it. Location was also great.
Lovely hotel, compy elegant room and a good size, the stairs up to the bathroom and the TV in the bathroom were a lovely touch. Great breakfast. Will definitely stay again when I'm back in Portsmouth. Good vaule for money.
I stayed at The Clarence Hotel on New Years Eve. The room was on the second floor no lifts but wasn't difficult to walk up to, as the staircase was beautifully wide. The room was large, with charming uncluttered decor I particularly liked the monkey wallpaper. In an unusual twist there was a short 8 steps stair way within the bedroom to a bathroom complete with a large walk in shower and free very nice L'occitane toiletries. There were also bathrobes and slippers in the wardrobe. The free breakfast in the morning was lovely, freshly cooked and hot! With as much cereal/toast/fresh fruit as you wanted. It is comfortably less than five minutes to the beach or about a minute and a half if you're inclined to run it! The staff were beautifully polite, efficient and did things with a smile and very pleasant graciousness. Would I change anything? Just one thing. There is a warning to keep the door closed of the bathroom because the steam could trigger the fire alarms. I could see why after a shower, because it was almost impossible to see in the bathroom, but you couldn't open the door and the ventilator fan went on for about 20-30 minutes each time you turned it on and it was loud you would need to turn up the television a little if you were watching it, but that really was the only thing that wasn't great. Would I go again? Definitely! I'm already looking...
One night get away. Picked the Clarence hotel late Fri 7/7 online, as the girlfriend and I needed to get away for a change of scenery and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. We travelled down by motorcycle fearing we would have to park on the road but luckily we could squeeze them in a corner of the tiny car park. Upon entering we were greeted by a most courteous member of staff who showed us to room 2 a very spacious and clean room with a lovely en-suite bathroom and as it turned out a very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the lovely dining room was very appetising the following morning and set us up for the day. I would not hesitate to book here again
Would recommend this hotel staff are polite, friendly & helpful. Room was lovely, had a good night sleep. Breakfast choice good & food was lovely. A nice find & shall go back.
