Beautiful theatre for Les Miserables show and just in China town area so plenty of options for food pre and post show! The painting around the theatre area is beautiful with the bar on the upper dress circle looking out on to the street. Good and clean bathrooms. Friendly staff at the entrance tickets booth and the gift shop!
Very friendly staff and bar service seems great. Toilets were rarely stocked though with hand towels no dryers but once you informed them they reacted. The theatre is quite small but still an experience.
After many years I went to see "Les Miserables" a second time. One of the best musicals in London, but like all current musicals, a little too loud for an old man. Young people confuse loud with dramatic. The plot, scenery, acting and singing are still superb. The Sondheim is a relatively small, attractive theatre, and we secured good last minute stall seats even though the performance was almost sold out. Don't miss it.
Do you hear the people sing? Yes, I do ... and they did it in a wonderful way. The performance of "Les Miserables" at the magnificent theatre was truly unforgettable. The talented cast brought Victor Hugo's classic tale to life with passion and skill, captivating the audience from start to finish. The grandeur of the theatre added to the atmosphere, enhancing the emotional depth of the production. It was a remarkable experience, where every note and every scene resonated with powerful storytelling and incredible musicality. Witnessing such a timeless masterpiece on stage was truly a highlight, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
Beautiful venue, small but with a lot of history. They have a bar and a small souvenir shop. We went to see Les Miserables and we loved it so much. The location is great, a lot of restaurants and museums are around.
I didn’t have any expectations when we came to the Sondheim. All I knew was that we were going to watch Les Mis. I didn’t know that the theater itself had so much history and character to offer. It was like being transported through time. It was an experience in itself. When you’re in London. See to it that you watch Les Mis at the Sondheim. Feel its magic like we did.
Best place in the world, Les Miserables is absolutely the best musical written by human kind, at least to my taste of course. Very clean and absolutely beautiful, 5 stars.
We went to see Les Mis here and had a great time however we didn't realise it was so limited for the disabled less abled. My mum can't do stairs and there was no where on the website that made it clear there were stairs everywhere! If you are less able bodied book a ticket in the circle as the staff told us when we were there this was the most accessible part of the theatre. They had a disabled meet point at the front doors which then as everyone else was going through the front we had to walk around the side and down the big stair case. No lift due to building age which is understood but the website could have mentioned it Overall my rating of the disabled access to theatre was poor. The actual production was amazing with modern day technology meeting the 18th century classic. The actors really did a great job to make the play come alive and it really was magical and one of the best plays ever for its always relevant topic material, great songs and phenomenal actors
Stunningly beautiful theatre. We could not wait to see Les Miserable as we love the 2012 movie and were not disappointed! Definitely recommend.
Had the most phenomenal time at the Matinee showing of Les Miserables 5th Sept. All staff were super polite and helpful and was amazing in helping me change seats a few minutes before the start of the performance. The venue is breathtakingly stunning too as was the performance itself. Thank you all for a tremendous experience!
