The team at Portland Medical Centre are professional, friendly, helpful. Whenever I have needed to be seen, I complete an e-consult form. Usually I have received a call back quite quickly, and then seen face to face appointment in the surgery either the same day or within 24 hours. I know that for those that do not have online facilities, they call still call up in the traditional manner.
Before I get into the review I want to say all of the clinical staff I have interacted with have been great. Sadly they are let down by some awful processes in place at the practice. 1. The online portal which you are pushed through at any opportunity is only available during working hours. This is absolutely absurd - you don’t need the office to be open to fill in a form, it’s a bit like saying you can only write a letter when the recipient is in the office. This forces people to find time during work hours to fill in long forms. I lost all my progress because I got booted out because it was the end of the working day. What’s worse is you can only make a complaint during business hours! 2. After having bloods done at the practice I was told that I needed to book another appointment. The receptionist said I can’t book at the desk, I have to go online or do it over the phone - again, during business hours. I raised this point with the receptionist who was incredibly rude about it. 3. The surgery doesn’t have the capacity to do basic tasks like taking blood so I have to book elsewhere for what will be a two hour round trip or I can wait for three weeks. I have never had issues like this with a GP Surgery.
We were running late and missed the appointment but the surgery managed to squeeze my daughter and I in, and were great with her when she was having her toddler flu prevention spray. Friendly and accommodating. Thank you again
Nurse Monique Is very friendly, experienced and skilled person I was so comfortable while taking four injections this is how well skilled she is. She is a very good listener and she took her time to explained and advise me for a safer travel. Very professional and helpful. So pleased with my experience today.
I had a very positive experience with Nurse Monique who was attentive, listened and gentle during an examination. The appointment was on time and I didn't feel rushed. Thank you so much Nurse Monique you are excellent in your job which I know is often a thankless one.
We don't use our surgery too often but when we do, we always get a very good care! The whole team is always very understanding and cooperative, making some processes easier for the patient whenever possible! Kids vaccinations with Nurse Monique are a breeze!
Where to begin... I cannot even begin to believe surgery is a 4.2, 1/5 is being generous. You are unable to see doctors, when it comes to serious matters you may be given a student etc. If it wasn’t bad enough not being able to get a doctors appointments you’re unable to get an appointment with the nurse. You will spend ages filling out a form online, specifying hours you are available just for them to book you in when you’re unavailable or call you during the times you stated you were busy. Would be much better if someone could just call you to book in an appointment. Fake opening times, if these opening times are only for clinics and not admin attention it should be stated. 8am - 8pm, door locked at 7pm no answer on the door bell? absolute non-sense. My advice to anyone in the local area looking to register with a GP would be to look elsewhere, as 9 times out of 10 you will be fobbed off. Most likely you will go through process and end up worse off encountering stress.
Was nice to meet face to face and learn more about the staff working at the Practice. I did feel the morning could have been better planned with timing of speakers and topics, as some people did miss possible important information. Plus more info on men’s health as quite a few attended.
I used Klinik to explain my symptoms. It was less than 5 minutes later that a very kind and understanding G.P phoned me to talk about why I was feeling poorly. Within less than 10 minutes, a prescription was heading to my nominated pharmacy! Portland has been caring for my family and I for 3 generations. We feel exceptionally fortunate to be under their care and as a daughter of a staff nurse trained in the late 1950s, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for Britain's incredible N.H.S.
I registered with this surgery last year but when I needed them a few weeks ago, I was appalled by the way they treated me. I was suffering from insomnia that was so bad I had to take time off work and was bursting into tears from the frustration. After explaining the severity through the online form, they first offered me an appointment nearly a month away. After calling up and practically crying down the phone, they eventually gave me a phone appointment for the following week. However, they called twice when I was on the tube home from work and as I didn't answer, they said I would have to start the entire appointment booking process again! They never once asked if I was anxious or depressed, despite obviously being upset and sleep deprived. Fortunately I have resolved the situation myself in the meantime but I am truly shocked and saddened at the complete lack of care they showed to someone who was clearly suffering and in desperate need of help, even if it was just someone to talk to for 5 minutes.
