I find Wandsworth Medical Centre to be absolutely fantastic. Whenever I’ve had a health problem, over the last 15 years, I’ve been triaged appropriately and seen promptly and the issue death with thoroughly. The new online system works really well for me and seems very efficient. I can tell them what’s wrong, attach photos and within a very short time, either a GP or admin have got back to me by text or phone call with the next steps. They are super proactive with managing health and when I speak with friends about our experiences, I recognise that I’m very lucky to have this level or care and service from my GP practice. All staff have been excellent, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. Goodness knows how they manage to cope with demand but I’m very grateful for the care and advice they’ve helped me with on a primary care level. Superb! Can’t recommend them enough.
I know doctors surgeries get a bad wrap due to intense demand, but Wandsworth Medical Centre have never let me down in the 3+ years I’ve been a patient. The doctors are friendly and patient, getting an appointment has never been an issue for me and the admin team are incredibly efficient and responsive. When I talk to my friends about their experiences with other doctors surgeries, I always feel so lucky to be with Wandsworth Medical Centre as they’re absolutely amazing. Well done everyone!
Absolute joke the doctors are lovely when you get to meet them but the booking system is a joke. You have to book through the website however the website is always temporarily down you then have to call. I have just walked three miles whilst being caller number one the whole time. The online booking system closes at 17:30 ruling out anyone who works. Please please change your ridiculous booking system it must make your lovely staffs job a nightmare!
After struggling to get a fit note from the hospital for a week following surgery, I contacted Wandsworth Medical Centre for help. Within minutes of submitting the online form, I received a call from the doctor. Not only did they fulfill my request as needed, but took the time to check that I was okay following my surgery, went through my hospital discharge paperwork to ensure that anything else I needed in the future was covered off, and explained to me how to book in follow up bloods, injections etc. I can’t thank the surgery enough for being so accommodating and taking a huge weight from my shoulders. Until now, I have had positive experiences at Wandsworth Medical Centre. However, my recent visit for a smear test with Linda Heffelman was deeply disappointing. Upon entering her room, I was immediately asked to undress without being offered a gown, cover, or paper towel for privacy. When I requested to close the curtain, she mentioned it was broken. I eventually managed to close it partially myself to feel somewhat more comfortable. Linda Heffelman explained that gowns are not provided for hygienic reasons, which I understand, but the paper towel she gave me was torn and inadequate. I ended up using my jacket instead. What was most concerning, however, was her handling of hygiene during the procedure. She picked up rubber gloves from her desk, which may have been contaminated, rather than using a fresh pair directly from the box. This raised concerns about whether the gloves had been used before. The smear test itself was conducted in a rough and rushed manner, causing unnecessary discomfort and making me question the quality and accuracy of the test. The overall experience felt impersonal and dehumanizing, leaving me quite unsettled. I will make sure not to schedule future appointments with Linda Heffelman, and I sincerely hope no other patients have to endure a similar experience.
If you can get an appointment with a doctor you will receive great care, however, to get an appointment you have to go submit an online form which is reviewed by a ‘clinician’ who decides on the seriousness of your need. You are then sent a link to book an appointment which frequently is with another clinician in 2 weeks time. No amount of resubmitting forms or calling the surgery will break through this system so if you really need to see a doctor but the clinician doesn’t think you do then you have to go to A and E or call 111 or go private….if I was a doctor at this surgery I would be very concerned about what the clinicians are deeming as not worthy of prompt medical care.
I feel fortunate to have such a great GP surgery . Getting an appointment is straight forward and the GP’s especially women’s health are fantastic . Julie, the nurse is wonderful , she truly cares about her patients and is kind and caring . I always feel looked after and listened to.
The worst GP I have ever had. The customer service was abysmal. The staff, particularly the receptionists, displayed a lack of empathy and were incredibly unhelpful. It felt as though they were indifferent to my concerns and unwilling to assist me in any way. The receptionists seem to dislike their job, which was evident in their attitude towards me and other patients. Their lack of enthusiasm and willingness to assist only added to the frustration of dealing with this practice. The booking system is a complete mess. Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to book an appointment due to the system's inefficiency. It is unacceptable that a basic function like booking an appointment is so poorly managed. You go online and you can't get an appointment in less than a week and if they do manage to call you - it will often be with the wrong issue and never helpful at all. It's actually so disappointing that one place can be so $hit!
I arrived 10 min late, it's my fault, there is no excuse but the practician refused to see me because of it and ask me to rebook. The last time I waited 40min for my doctor appointment, and 30 min for a blood test, I understand that everybody can be late but I believe that if as patient I can understand that, I would like to have the same courtesy from a practician especially when the practician doesn't have another appointment behind the one I missed. The receptionist was very helpful and understanding.
With each visit, it is confirmed to me that this GP surgery is a shambles. Really poor service re mental health. This surgery used to be amazing, but has gone downhill is massively since Covid. I choose to attend A&E, and walk-in centres over attempting to get any type of support from my GP.
