Great place for a country walk, lots of different routes leading around the golf course, the badger walk is best which has amazing views to the hills to the south and then a quick walk to Fannyside Loch. Highly recommended!
BE AWARE: There are currently no animals or farm sections due to NL Council cuts a couple of years back. I have told Visit Scotland and other online websites - but they refuse to change the details! GOOD POINTS: FREE ENTRY AND PARKING! Amazing woodland trails where you can often see roe deer, owls, foxes even in the daytime buzzards, kestrels and herons! The changing seasons and various paths mean that you can go back several times in a row and never get the same walk twice. Just give yourself a couple of hours to explore and ramble around... you can't get lost, just head back to the golf course if you think you've wandered too far! Also, Fannyaside Loch is beautiful and there are two playgrounds to choose from : BAD POINTS: The signposting can be a bit confusing if you're not local. There aren't enough dog poop bins if you start walking out towards the loch and Glencryan/Forest wood. A few of the trails haven't been resurfaced yet so can be uneven to walk on/ access for pushchairs/wheelchairs. The visitor centre is currently closed so no toilets or cafe... you may need to do a 'nature wee' if you're desperate ; TO CONSIDER: Improvements to the paths and boardwalks are constantly being made, and there's a new playground that replaced the old rotten tree-top walk. Access isn't great for disabled people, but there are some paths that are suitable in drier weather. A community trust has taken over the running of the park, but at the moment it's in the admin stages, so watch this space!
Nice day today for the local community, this park is great but has been neglected just need a little TLC my little ones love the place.

Sad to see the decline in the place. Some investments have been made with the new play park and the badger trail, but since the animals were all removed, it has been downhill. Used to be an amazing place to go ad a kid
The country park has changed over the years, its not the place it used to be as it was vibrant with animals and petting enclosures but understandably this costs a lot to run. It's still a nice park to go walking as they have varied tracks that cover good mileage. Tracks are varying and undualting and for the most of it not too mucky.
Great wee park, nice walks through the golf course, facilities were very clean and the small farm animal zoo was great, my daughter loved it and my doggy made a new friend at the sheep pen, wasn’t to sure of the goats and definitely wanted to taste a rabbit, took my nieces and they loved the park as you can see. Will be back soon.
Great park with 2 play areas for kids. One is conventional with a giant sandpit area and the other is an adventure playground with wooden structure and high climbing heights. There is no petting zoo anymore but there is still a great day out to be had at Palace Rigg Country Park. My grandson enjoying exploring the forest.
I have fond memories of coming here with my Mum and Dad 25 years ago and decided to visit with my kids today. Unfortunately time hasn't been kind, there are now no animals save from the ducks in the pond. Believe the statement in the picture is incorrect as the council decided to sell the animals?? Used f to be able to come and have a day, spend time in the cafe, play and see the animals however now only the play areas really although the cafe is still there. There was a tree top walkway which was closed when we visited although didn't look as large as before and the new play area is really quite awkward for younger kids to climb and get on to, although impressive Don't know if I would be back in a hurry.
Great country park one of the few with farm animals, the rangers Davie and Colin are currently working hard to get a nature walk finished throughout the park and placing posts for children to take a crayon copy prints as a challenge for them. They recently replaced a porch for one of their long houses.
