This hostel was in a very convenient location. Rooms included basic bunkbeds, no personal outlets, lockers or storage which was challenging for the top bunk. Site was reasonably clean. Overall, ok stay. Walkability: Very convenient to downtown Oban, Ferries and train station.
Loved this place! Perfect location, really awesome Australian receptionist. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Would definitely come back again!Rooms: 5/5
I went on a tour of the highlands in October, and the company picked this hostel on our behalf. The night was super cold 8 degrees and the heating system was not on. I communicated that to staff, who passed on the message to management. I went to bed two hours later and the heating system was still off. I had to wear a jumper, thermal socks, thermal pants and still did not sleep comfortably as my face was super cold. This ruined the stay for me. In addition to that, there were no lockers, the room smelled funny, the mattress was terribly thin and uncomfortable, and the toilets on the ground floor were not the cleanest. This was the worst night of sleep I had in my week-long trip. Overall, I did not have a nice experience and would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone. Staff were really nice and the location is great.
One of the best hostels I have stayed in. Staff is super friendly and helpful, clean, great kitchen. Room had ample space for six and their gear. A perfect inexpensive option for solo travellers and cyclists. It is a hostel and, as such, a good one. Fantastic value for money and highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
Solid backpackers hostel. Breakfast was a little underwhelming for us think we might have had an unlucky morning but apart from that, very pleasant stay.
Being older and loving my tent, hostels are not my favourite overnight option. But I can highly recommended this hostel Richard the owner bent over backwards to help us with our bikes, with our baggage and other issues. They have a fantastic well equipped kitchen and everything was squeaky clean. Thank you so much Richard for looking after us so well and the conversations. And good luck this season
Rooms are small and outdated. No lockers. Mattress too thin, not very comfy. Showers are in a different floor from the bedrooms. Walls are paper thin. Wifi is quite bad. Still good location, friendly staff and good enough value for money.
The location is located just 7mins walk from the station, it is easy to find. The bathrooms,toilets are clean and room is tidy. The two Aussie ladies at the check-in are very friendly! Sorry we forgot to ask for your names. Can’t recommend enough for the hostel laundry service, it’s worth every penny!! The clothes were folded nicely too we didn’t expect this high quality from a hostel so thank you! Overall, I’d recommend this hostel to friends who are visiting Oban.
Find a better place to stay. We booked two bunks in a 12 person mixed dorm last night. On check in we were told that the doors are closed after 10:30 and a porter would let guests in. After 2, the door is locked. Quiet hours are supposed to be observed from 10:30 on. There were very loud, obnoxious, unruly guests in our dorm room who repeatedly turned the lights on and spoke full voice well into the night and early morning. They were clearly here to just get obliterated. The hostel has no one enforcing quiet hours so people who need the rest can actually sleep. The entire town of Oban was loud last night. With the only air circulating from the open windows, that makes the room noisy too. Also, if people are outside the hostel talking, you’ll hear every word. There’s also no one around if you have trouble with noise and inconsiderate guests like we did last night. Room was stuffy. So, basically, if you want a decent night of sleep stay elsewhere…while you’re at it….just skip Oban.
Super easy check in, nice and rugged bunk beds, large and well equipped kitchen area and a huge lounge - big enough to chill by yourself and fellow guests usually very welcoming and sociable!Rooms: 5/5
