Fantastic accommodation. My daughter has moved in ten days ago. All new furniture, very secure place and big single rooms. Highly recommended
Absolutely dire, do not stay here. It is expensive for what you get, especially seeing as it advertised 4-5 people per flat, and I am in a flat of 8. You also won’t get a gym, as is advertised. Also the washing machines barely work and will just steal your money with no way of getting it back. People who work there are generally ok but also can be moody, sullen and unhelpful. It has also been newly refurbished, it’s just a shame that it’s shoddily done with plumbing problems, poorly installed doors and locks and overall cheapness of the whole place. Please find somewhere cheaper.
Friendly staff, unfortunately entrances wasn't clean to the blocks, apartment toilet was dirty on moving in day, lifts broken and damaged. Electrical fittings not safe in apartments. And this was after a refurbishment. If they get on top of these issues I'm sure this would be a great place to live.
Kitchen 0 out of 10 We were on the corner flat, the kitchen is tiny meant to fit 8 people but max can fit 4. 2 sinks, hobs, fridges, ovens. Very pokey not to mention the shoddy craftsmanship. Plenty of shelves but they broke on multiple occasions. Worst part is the mice, if you don't keep the kitchen cleaner than Buckingham palace you might find mice eating your food. Extractor fans don't work. Room 5 out of 10 Rooms are decent lots of room to store stuff and you get your own sink. The mattress is comfy. However, windows have clearly not been cleaned on the outside so you get a view that is smudgy. Unfortunately, I was adjacent to the Mancunian way so the sound of cars never stops also the sound of water/sewage systems is a constant nuisance. Also, the sound of construction is constant this is obviously temporary but can't help mention this. Earplugs recommended. Bathrooms suffer from shoddy craftsmanship like the whole flat in general. In general it isn't the best but we did get compensated. Vending machines and entertainment like pool tables are few considering the amount of people in the accommodation. It is in a good location being 10 mins from MMU and not far from Asda and small convenience stores as well as one of the more popular pubs Courtyard. The place was renovated recently and was clearly rushed, paint on handles and just generally shoddy craftsmanship. Security is there a total of 5 doors on the way in which you need a card for and one on the way out. Staff are useful where they can be but take the internet for instance you're on your own since it's outsourced. There's secure parking, a large inner courtyard for smoking and bins. There's also study, DJ rooms. No gym but you are allowed to use Parkway Gates gym. Also, the local area it is located in seems to suffer from crime and can't help but notice signs warning of criminal activity.
Newly refurbished , but don’t be fooled - all with poor quality fixtures and fittings Don’t believe pictures they show - rooms much smaller then shown - barely enough room to move around in there . Falsely advertised best room . kitchen smaller then shown Lifts broken several times No Water supply for few days then no hot water for another time Heating didn’t work to warm up room - switches itself off if not near sensor or window opened -and when u leave room . Kitchen shelves fallen off in first month Very noisy from traffic below For amount of rent you are charged it’s a complete rip off . GO SEE IT FOR YOURSELF BEFORE YOU BOOK THEN DECIDE. VERY DISPPOINTED
They kicked us all out of the accommodation and I still haven’t had a refund for the room when I moved home. It’s been 3 months, no response on email and no help over the phone. I’ve lost hundreds of pounds and they seem careless. On top of that the rooms are dire, the walls are so thin that you can hear every word from each room, there was a bug infestation, mice and rats, lift was broken for weeks on end, washing machines broke, often mess and rubbish in hallways and entrances. Really would not recommend.
Booked to stay here during my first year of uni last year. The rooms are outdated, ugly and full of stains. If you stay here remember to fill out a form regarding the state of the room before your year starts, they failed to mention this to me. Otherwise they will try and charge you for mess previous tenants have made. The heating works but it stinks of burning when it's on. You get a small uncomfortable single bed, bring your own mattress. No TV in the kitchen, can't even use the oven properly because all the markings are rubbed off. Rats run around the bins which I can slightly understand in a city but I can't imagine they are hard to prevent. During covid staff were too invasive and rude. I would get emails when I was miles away back at home stating that someone needed access to my room, this happened at least 4 times. The last thing I wanted was for someone to be letting themselves into my room with all my stuff in there, literally no respect at all. It didn't even make sense what they were actually wanting to do. If I knew what I was doing I wouldn't have stayed here. The only positive is the location. It is 2021 you can find much nicer/modern accommodations that are even cheaper. They provide the bare minimum, and for £170+ a week its just not good enough.
I'm sick and tired of my emails not being responded to so I'm now taking to this. The website says "renovated for 2022." No its not been renovated yet, they are actually kicking everyone out end of May to be renovated. My course finishes end of June and could run into July and my contract finishes in August. As a disabled student, I cant just move to any flat, and this isn't taking into consideration - MAY IS PRIME EXAM/DEADLINE TIME! I've sent emails, asked for compromise, explained what support or type of flat I'd need to move to, nothing. I've also said how detrimental this decision will be to me. Nothing. Moving isn't even possible for me in the tiny time frame they've given us and there is still no compromise of any sort. All I ask is that you at least let us stay until our courses are finished and do this outside of peak assessment time!!! And there's no communication about this that's clear. So will I have somewhere to live from May onwards? Will I finish my course? Who even knows? And I'm angry because unite students are directly to blame if all my hard work is wasted because they force us to move during peak assignment deadline time. Then offer no support. I'm upset to even write this but there isn't clearly any care for the students they have. And Unite students if you see this, please see how harmful this is, reconsider , compromise or find a way around this. For the sake of the students who already live here. I am not going to stay quiet about this and the harm it is causing until you at least compromise and respond to one of my emails. As for those people who are moving in to the new renovated flats in September. I'd think really carefully about whether you'd want to live somewhere that treats students like that. And the fact that it took them disrupting students entire lives to get this renovation done. Is it worth living somewhere so new and fancy when this is what it took for the renovations to be done?
I feel generous giving this place 1 star from the experience I’ve had. I was greeted to a bathroom riddled with black mould that resulted in a chest infection and 2 hospital trips successfully ruining my “freshers week”. Throughout the entire winter my window was unable to close still not fixed in February as I’m writing this and the heaters are as warm as a fart brilliant if you love a freezing cold room. The lift was left broken for almost 6 weeks, the laundry room was shut for 3 weeks, constant flow of staff welcoming themselves into your room which is just annoying. The maintenance team are brilliant, mainly as they also realise that the whole development needs knocking down. Not only are there rats in the courtyard, but also on the 7th floor, the rooms are small, dirty and depressing, for the love of god go somewhere else
For the love of God.... don't live here. Its a shïthœl. Rats, constantly staff coming into your flat and rooms. One night there were three separate fire alarms the last being 4am. The ovens and kitchen hobs are disgusting. Black mold in the bathrooms. Windows don't close properly which led to my computer and other possessions being broken or ruined when they hosed down the lower windows... mice in the kitchen. Noise is constant from the road behind. The staff are nice however... And you'll never detest your curtains more.
