This place is purely for the locals, we went in and did not feel welcome at all, we stayed for 1 drink and left as we felt really uncomfortable being there. 
I was stood at the bar next to be served and then I presume it was a local came to the bar after me and the landlord said to the barmaid to serve him first. 
If you are looking for somewhere welcoming and something to keep the kids entertained this is not the place ! Go somewhere/ anywhere else. 
I wouldn't give him my money again if he was halving his prices ! 

It's a shame really as I have been going there every year for about 20 years and I used to love it as a kid, whoever owned it then was great and the food they served was second to none but the last 3/4 years it's got worse every year.

Been on this site for 27 years when we brought our first van all those years ago there was an amusements with a bingo, the fish and chip van would come round and it was run by the council,  how the site has changed over the  years, it is a lovely place to come  to relax it's our home from home ,the owner John and staff are very approachable and so very nice , Mark is such a lovely genuine bloke , nothing is too much trouble always there to help , the site is clean tidy and well kept and it's a nice walk to the sea

Nice quiet park but be prepared for a very very low price for your caravan when you leave.

Been on the. Mermaid for 25years. Love it site owner John  brilliant absolutely fantastic bloke nothing is to much trouble. So five 5⃣ star for me
