Durhams second oldest pub and the only pub in the market place. We pride ourselves in having a range of local and national cask ales, craft beers in draught and bottle and great traditional food.
Open 11am-11pm Sunday- Thursday
11am-1am Friday & Saturday

Lovely friendly bar staff, felt very welcome here. Noticed a dog bowl outside so believe it is a dog friendly pub too. It's a great old pub that I will visit again.
Such a good place! Most of the staff are so welcoming and professional. They’ve taken good social distancing measures and increased cleanliness for Covid. We’ve been here three times in the past week.
Great little pub in the market place but gets very busy. Quite snug and do have live sport on the tv's.
The market taven is a nice old city pub that does nice food and drink but the bar staff are very grumpy and could be a bit more friendly and smile now and then

Lovely pub with a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff, as well as very good social distancing measures throughout. Got a chicken platter and chips which was great value for money, would definitely come back again.
Nice pub, good safety measures in place and some decent beers
All social distance requirements in place totally safe to go in for food and have a drink and a good catch up
