There are brilliant teams at work in MRI, but unfortunately there is always shortage of staff, and always overloaded with patients, hence getting a bed could take hours, and other planned services might not happen on time due to various reasons. These limitations are not specific to MRI alone but apply to all NHS hospitals. But this one remains my favourite.
My 12 day stay was shocking. I was in a bay of 4 and witnessed a patient left in wet sheets for 2 hours. Patients waiting 11 and 5 hours for much needed pain relief. The list of neglect and lack of communication was awful. You have no rights over your own body in there. Worst experience I've ever had in a hospital.
Horrible place. Waited for hours and hours, no one even called me in for the first assessment. People sleeping on the floor, nurses and doctors just jumping over them. I literally started crying on my way out just because of the horrible scene there, it looks devastating. Poor people. The woman on the reception on the urgent care is extremely rude and unapproachable. Feels like she has no empathy for anyone. I don't think I've ever seen an a&e like this.
Overall the nurses and doctors are kind. But there's this nurse who absolutely doesn't have any compassion at all. Infact I'm officially lodging a complaint. That they should consider first the safety of kids visitors in the ward. Rules are meant to be kept. But there should be room for exception. Especially where a child is involved.
Absolutely amazing the staff of the Emergency department. I went there yesterday for a problem with my heart and they all were caring. The doctor that visited me at the end was caring and reassuring. Thanks for existing!
Nurses and wards are fine. But if you need a prescription on discharge. The waiting time currently is 4 hours plus.
MRI continue to offer outstanding care. They literally saved my life, so I am forever grateful for that and the amazing care for my newborn daughter three years ago.
Recently spent a week here and it was mostly okay. All staff very pleasant, helpful and compassionate, although sometimes disappeared for large parts throughout the day and the beeper wasn’t always effective at finding someone to help me. The food ordering system also took a while to get sorted which means you end up with leftovers and not always something you like - this happened for me and several others on my ward. Wi-Fi abysmal, disconnected often. Overall a good experience on the care side but the admin/resources lets it down a little.
Should be ashamed of the respiratory 18/19 ward and how it’s going currently. As we speak, a family member was placed in this ward and whilst the nurses gather and chatter round the computers we have asked them numerous times over the last 12 hours for help with monitoring and adjusting the level of oxygen supplied by the machine and as it continues to reach abnormal levels it takes them over 40 minutes to walk 20 feet and help us adjust it. We are not trained to use these machines and experiencing the lack of care while I watch my mother in laws life hang in the balance is stomach wrenching. She cannot communicate, she is unresponsive for most of it. I don’t care what admin work your 3 nurses had to do while faffing with their mobile phones, someone’s life is on the line 20 feet away and she was put in this unit on a machine that doesn’t even work along side the oxygen machines provided. When moving wards they seem to do a one size fits all treatment process and whilst we are telling them exactly what is required as previously stated to us, in this ward they like to read the report hours after already putting someone in the bed. I know the report wasn’t read because when explaining where we are up to and what happened in the previous ward, the nurse refused to help until they have checked the reports an hour later .We brought our own machine to monitor her and we have provided majority of the care to compensate. This is absolutely insane that the NHS has become a DIY situation and the only benefit of her being here at the moment is the 1 working machine which is the oxygen. Other than this, I have seen very little value other than an injection. Manchester Royal of all the experiences I have ever had, this takes the cake by far. Credit to a minor few members of staff who take the constant request they get with some grace and seriousness.
This is the worse hospital that I have been too. The nurses and doctors are very rude, they don’t really care how bad you are.
