Love this hotel! This hotel is where my husband and I got married and we go back every year on our anniversary to celebrate! The staff are always very friendly. The food is good The spa is ace. Breakfast was lovely! And I found out on leaving that next year when we return, we can bring our dogs!! Can't recommend highly enough. Have always liked the MacDonald hotel group and have stayed in several of their hotels up and down the country and they always deliver class and style.

My granddaughter and I booked a spa day
It included afternoon tea and two 25 min treatments.  The food was lovely . There were 4 lots of sandwiches and 5 different cakes. The treatments were very relaxing 
However the pool and changing rooms need a bit if refurbishment. There is only one private changing room the rest is communal
The lock on the door is broken . It just all looks a bit tired. But overall very nice

Very friendly, polite, helpful staff always willing to help and chat. Food was beautiful in the restaurant just the self serve breakfast on the Sunday was a let down in comparison to the ordered breakfast on the Saturday which was excellent. Room was nice and clean with an excellent bed very very comfortable. Just beware of sliding wardrobe doors that easily come off. the rails. Spa treatment ie massage was also fantastic, all In all a very relaxing enjoyable stay. Would have given 5 stars but Sunday self serve breakfast let them down.

Went for a shopping trip with a group of my girl friends and we stay over night at the Macdonald Portal. The hotel is ideally situated for a visit to Chester and surrounding areas. The spa facilities were brilliant with an excellent pool and various saunas. Our overnight stay included £25 towards our evening meal and there was an excellent three course menu for the exact amount. Breakfast was also included in the price which was a self service breakfast which included fruit, cereal, full English and various continental options. Overall our stay was excellent value for money, the hotel was brilliant and our room was excellent.

Very Nice hotel, really good service with smile on everyone's face. The restaurant has got  amazing atmosphere and fresh food.
High recommended.
