Had to give three star for the room as although very nice, the air con unit only went as low as 24c ! Could not open a window and it was baking : Staff lovely. Breakfast was fine Facilities are good
So it's a beautiful hotel and a great location but the staff haven't the first idea about service or general manners it's a shame really it really let's the place down. The taps in gentlemen toilets are set to high and completely soacked my trousers when washing my hands not to mention the lights turning off on me when I was in the cubicle. A continuous smell of cannabis in the lobby and out the front of the hotel. The food was OK but not great. In all honesty I will not be returning here. Very disappointed
We stayed 21/08/2024 in room 420 We paid extra for the room with a king size bed We do like the hotel, it is well designed, beautiful, and a good location. Plus quiet despite being directly by a main road, tram line and train station. However, we were really disappointed with the service we received. We were woken up at 6am to a constant dripping sound, which was the air con leaking. This has clearly been an ongoing issue as the ceiling paper around the leak was damaged. Though admittedly we didn’t see this prior damage until the leak started in the morning. We alerted the hotel reception, who witnessed the issue, put towels and a bucket down. Due to being woken that early, we expected to be offered free breakfast or at least some form of apology from the hotel. However, there was no acknowledgement. The reception member who came up to the room at 6am was aware of the issue, and we repeated what happened upon checking out. Again, no apology or acknowledgement of our disruption given. I didn’t plan on leaving a review as I thought in the week after that the hotel would be in contact via email to say ‘how was your stay?’ After all, they sent many emails leading up to it expressing how we could pay for an upgrade. It seems after your stay they don’t bother to send a final message asking for any feedback though. Needless to say, this lack of service on their part has left us not wanting to stay at their hotels again
A very well positioned hotel only a couple of minutes from Birmingham new street station . Situated in the main shopping centre . Check in was a little slow due to a number of people turning up together otherwise efficient. Room was both spacious and comfortable with a lovely small double with lovely squishy pillows . Evening meal was a set meal for a couple of hundred fellow delegates and was well cooked and presented and the servers were very friendly and helpful. All very tasty. Breakfast was the usual fare with the hot food freshly cooked and served to order. Poached eggs were lovely. The conference facilities were very good and comfortable and lunch was a buffet and absolutely fine . Plenty of tea coffee and cold drinks. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Only good thing about this hotel is the location, not sure how they are calling themselves a luxury hotel. My room was disappointingly small and unclean. The ‘luxury Elemis products’ were all watered down and I wasn’t even given any body lotion or conditioner. I was also for some reason charged for a tray service when ordering room service which I found completely bizarre, for food that was adequate at best. To top all things off the lady at reception was unwelcoming and made it seem like I was a burden to just check out of my room and then seemed unable to provide me with my receipt for my stay. Will not be staying here again
Just booked a room with Lynsey on Reception who was extra helpful. Matched a room rate found elsewhere and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent customer service! Looking forward to staying in September.Service: 5/5
Zero stars if I could. I picked this hotel based on the pictures on the website and proximity to New Street Station. My room was quite a trek from the main door and there is no one to help with luggage. Room service was extremely expensive for what it was. £5 for a handful of chips that were slightly under cooked. Barley slept for the heat and the noise from the main road. Tram announcements and local drinks yelling all night. The next morning I had paid for breakfast. It was a bit expensive but I wanted convenience. The waitress looked at me, visibly disabled and chose to cram me in a table in the farthest corner of the room. I had to get people to stand up so I could get back to the buffet. The breakfast menu is also not inclusive. A filled hot roll is included but it costs extra for anything else. I was unable to carry my plate back from the buffet so I ended up not having breakfast. No refund offered either. Best advice is to avoid at all costs
This hotel has a great central location, however it is quite tired in places. My room was clean but in need of a refurb and the shower was not very powerful and luke warm . Breakfast room was extremely cold everyday although food was quite nice.Rooms: 3/5
A little dissapointed in view it's a Mcdonald hotel. Looking dated and worn in places. Service was fine breakfast was good but avoid the coffee served like dishwater, and they dont do specialist coffee even though its on the breakfast menu! we bought our own round the corner and took it in. Location is good for station but be warned rooms on the high street are very noisy, expected as its a city centre location, would have helped if we could of shut the window tight but it was broken and only pushed too.
This hotel is really well located for access to the station and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms could probably use a cosmetic refurb soon but they were clean and functional and had nice features like a good waterfall shower with handheld showerhead option, a generous wardrobe with plenty of wooden hangers, a new looking full sized iron and ironing board, and I personally liked the decent sized mugs provided for tea and coffee. As some other reviewers have said there was a bit of noise outside, although my Mum had a room on the opposite side of the building and heard nothing. Breakfast was good and had veggie options. Parking in Grand Central carpark was very convenient but late arrivals should note the easy cut through via the station is closed off after 23:30 and you may need to walk around the outside of the building. This added a few mins to getting there but not really an issue. Overall this was a convenient and reasonably priced stay.
