Story
Set in a unique riverside location near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, Longridge provides a range of exciting water sports and land-based activities aimed at young people of all abilities. As well as 12 acres of beautiful water meadows we have our own island, 'Taylor Island' for the ultimate swallows and amazons experience. Taylor island also gives us a sheltered backwater in which young people can experience the river with confidence.
85,000 young people will visit our world-class facilities this year and Longridge boasts a proud 50 year history and an excellent safety record. Our visitors range from schools and youth groups to individuals and corporate clients not to mention the Women’s Olympic Rowing Team and GB Kayaking Teams.
Longridge is run by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and paid staff. We are approved by the BCU (British Canoe Union), RYA (Royal Yacht Association) and British Rowing. As well as AALA, Bucks County Council, Duke of Edingburgh Award and we are a recognised Olympic Training Centre. Each year we run a large number of courses ranging from beginner skills right through to advanced coaching and instruction.
We have a range of facilities including well equipped accommodation for all needs, from camping to bunk house accommodation and indoor meeting, conference and training spaces.
Longridge helps young people from all walks of life and abilities to develop water skills as well as leadership, self-discipline, confidence and respect. We rely on donations to expand and improve our site.

"Longridge Activity Centre is a charity run outdoor adventure centre that provides the opportunity for 80,000 young people to take part in activities and experience the magic of the Thames and its beautiful surrounds. In reality that number is probably actually much higher than 80,000, as our official visitor count only includes those that attend Longridge run activities – and Longridge offers so much more than just that!We also provide an incredibly affordable home for the rowing clubs of three local schools, the local canoeing club, and fencing clubs. Not forgetting acting as a base for Marlow FM to broadcast from, in a studio they converted from our old toilets! We pride ourselves on being a hub for community activity."

Just done a boating course in the centre, very useful, learned a lot of practical things about mooring, etiquette on the river etc i had not known before. Feel much more confident being in charge of a motor craft.
Amazing place for a birthday party. My son thoroughly enjoyed his laser tag party for his 10th birthday. The Longridge team are friendly and helpful.
My partner and I completed our RYA Power Boat Level 2 course at Longridge. Savannah was incredibly helpful and prompt in email correspondence when booking us in. Chris our instructor was incredibly knowledgable and courteous. The course was delivered at a great pace, with plenty of time to ask questions and revisit and practice the more tricker manoeuvres. Chris has remained in touch and has answered the questions we have had regarding the ICC application process and international boating laws. The stretch of river was absolutely stunning and the perfect backdrop for a thoroughly enjoyable and informative weekend. I would strongly recommend Longridge for anyone looking to take a boating course.
I'm not sure where Mark Powell went, possibly the rowing centre next door, but the Longridge venue was ideal to be temporarily used as a covid vaccination centre. Suitably located to cover Marlow and north Maidenhead without having to endure Maidenhead town centre. There was a steward on the car park, which has ample space if everyone turns up at their scheduled appointment time. Paved all the way in to the vaccination centre lift for disabled access if required, also a coffee vendor open and friendly, level gravel / concrete paths, in and out in less 30 minutes including a 15 min sit down. Looks a great place for activities as well.
Well established activity centre in a lovely location on the Thames. Lots to do. Places to sit and eat too for hangers on.
My daughter went on a Cubs camping weekend to Longridge. She found it thoroughly enjoyable, the staff were well trained and helpful with the activities. Kayaking, crate stacking and raft building were the options my daughter chose, though I believe they offer more activities. The location is good and the main log building looks great. One tired little Cub was collected on the Sunday.
Very helpful on enquiries about hiring their hall.
It's great. Ex scout site now made much better with updated facilities it's great for water activities for schools, clubs and anyone else. Easy distance from London and in a lovely section of the Thames.
An amazing watersports and adventure facility hidden down by the River Thames in Marlow. Originally a national Scout Centre, now privately run, it's a fantastic place for birthday parties with activities such as kayaking, raft building, crate stacking, laser tag and climbing. Also a campsite, which is beautiful down by the river but avoid the plots near the road as they are noisy at night. Ask for the camp sites at the other end.
My boys have been to the day camps in the school holidays 4 times now and have tried different activities every time. They come home buzzing with excitement and I think the value offered is excellent too! Keep up the fantastic work!
