Lady Greys - A fine collector of Cask Ales, World Beers, Traditional British Food with modern inspiration, Fine Wines & Local Produce

Story

Here at Lady Greys we are very proud of our fine selection of food and drink with a strong influence of local produce from cask breweries and local farms in Northumberland.

We have worked extremely hard to create a friendly atmosphere where you can meet new friends, chat business, enjoy our culinary delights or simply relax on our oversized chesterfield sofas with a large glass of pinot or a cool pilsner after a hard day in the office.

We specialise in Fine cask ales, Bottled beers and Spirits from around the world and if you don’t know your stuff our staff are trained to help you find that hidden gem off the shelf or the right cask to provide perfection on the palette.

If you haven’t tried us, we hope you can pop down to Shakespeare Street soon and see how we do things. Expect: Cask ales Hand picked by Mordue, Hadrian and Border and Wylam and breweries. There’s also Bottled beers from around the world, Wines selected by the award winning specialist house of Townend, Traditional British food with modern inspiration, Exquisite Coffee selected by Blakes coffee house, Homemade burgers, Pieminster pies, Live music, comedy, Weekend DJ’s and much more… Enjoy.

Lady grey creates a sociable elegance; the use of materials gives a lavish comfort resulting in a remarkable theatrical environment which absorbs its guests. The old and traditional seamlessly blend together with the new creating a timeless design which looks evolved through the years.

The result is a cool and stylish bar full of interest and intrigue like no other.

I visited on a Sunday lunchtime and enjoyed a relaxing beer. The music was great background and there's a huge choice of drinks. It's old style but not old fashioned, with plenty of seats and corners to nestle in. The windows are large and bright. Staff were helpful and polite. The toilets were very clean. Definitely worth more visits.
Really good bar, set in the gorgeous city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Canny prices and great selection of ales, which are professionally kept and served well. We got one end of the barrel pint after many rounds, and the session manager replaced the whole round for free, no hassle. It's pretty cool Service: 5/5
Slightly off the main street but definitely worth finding if you like a wide beer selection including quite a few cask. There's a broad mix of good quality craft breweries and the mainstream stuff as well to suit most. I didn't try the food on this visit but they sounded like good grazing sharing options for another time. Old school no fuss decor. If you are in the centre looking for a good quality beer in friendly surroundings, this will serve you well
First time drinking in Lady Greys .service was great . But it wasn't busy at this time. And the lines were well looked after was the 3 different drinks we had was all great. Bar gives a cool vibe but not pretentious. Definitely going back.Service: 5/5
Very good Newcastle pub near the Grey's Monument. 8 cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a dry roasted peanut stout! Lots of outdoor seating most of it covered. Not too busy after the Spurs game at St James' Park.
The perfect pub to have a beer in after work! This bar is really busy late at night, friendly service!Food: 5/5
Cracking selection of cask and keg beers, all excellently kept. Good service and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. There is also a great selection of single malt whisky for those who like a tot or two.Service: 5/5
Music was good but too loud to talk without shouting. Lots of choice for Beer. But... there were flies everywhere, some of the lights were out so we sat in the dark. This would all be ok but there were people openly vaping at the bar with the staff allowing them to do so. Pretty sure that's illegal, I wasn't happy about it so we left after 1 drink.
Don't know if they do food, but it's open till very late, serves a great pint and is full of friendly punters. Just don't put your drink in the windowsill outside, it will slide off, they must go through a ton of glassware each weekendFood: 3/5
Whoever manages this place, I hope they realise how unbelievably lucky they are to have the two lasses who were working Wednesday night at 9 onwards. Hospitality is about hospitality and in a post COVID world, from one barman to another barman, they are exceptional and are worth more than whatever you're paying them. 12/10.Service: 5/5
