Fabulous! Wowed what a surprise! We seen this was one of the most visited attractions so here we go! We booked as this can be very busy right in the heart of the stunning beautiful and historic city of york! The train ride surprised us! About 20 minutes take you through a brilliant and very realistic tour of the Viking age! Truly amazing and definitely worth a visit! No parking as it’s right in the Center! But don’t let that put you off as plenty of parking available in York.
Not originally part of my itinerary but so glad I went! Didn't know anything about the place so everything was a pleasant surprise. A bit of a queue but the ride was really well designed and brilliantly showcased the everyday life of the vikings. Definitely something which would appeal to all ages Near the end the exhibits were great as well, especially the detailed analysis of the skeletons
What an absolutely amazing experience, the guides are truly passionate about everything that has been discovered and the actual Tour through the Viking settlement is truly remarkable with incredible eye, ear and nose for detail. Came out of here with so much to smile about. Worth every penny and I highly recommend others to go.
It was nice to sit and take in the information on the ride. Especially after all the walking we have done in York. Bit of a bottleneck when you get off to look at the artifacts. But worth it if your genuinely want to read the info and look at the items properly. We enjoyed our visit very much. Lots of knowlegable staff to ask questions that are more than happy to share the stories.
It's now a ride. Which is good fun and a good experience. If you have small kids you get round it very quickly as they won't look at the displays. We spent about 30mins here. Note that if you are an English heritage member you can get a discount.
This is a short experience 30-45min that brings to life how the vikings lived in the Coppergate neighbourhood. The animatronics are astonishing and the quality of the narration is excellent in several languages. If you expect a museum, this is not the place. The 'museum area' is fairly limited but easy to follow and well explained. Great experience overall but a bit pricey.
Great! Lots to learn from viking history. The figures people move & talk. Easy to access for everyone as you sit for most part. The museum bit at the end however could be a little bigger & doesn’t show everything about the ‘Nordic people’ only coins & different materials. Also, there is a lot of people trying to get, but once you buy a ticket it is valid for a year! Which is great & saves money.
Great experience here, we were able to walk in and get a viewing pretty quickly without having to pre-book. The tickets felt a little pricey but we enjoyed ourselves. The ride was nice, felt fun and educational at the same time and it was fascinating to see how Viking settlements would have looked like. The exhibits were also very interesting and informative, giving some local history about Jorvik alongside world history with regards to the Vikings and trade etc. The guides are also really enthusiastic and passionate about what they discuss too, which is amazing!
Possibly the best museum I have ever been to! So interesting and informative. Interactive mostly and you sit in a car which takes you round a recreation of a Viking town. Before that you can walk on a glass floor over actual Viking finds!! So good Lots of information on everything and staff dressed as Vikings who demonstrate things like coin making. My only negative opinion would be that they could have shown more about the Vikings being warriors. Ticket lasts a year so worth it just for that. I will return.
Really fun experience, learning about vikings and going through real viking artifacts, houses and learning about how they lived. I would fully recommend this for anyone interested in vikings. The gift shops prices are a lil extortionate though! Especially since you already spend a fortune for admission.
