Story

The Royal Hallamshire Hospital is a general and teaching hospital located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. It is in the city's West End, facing Glossop Road and close to the main campus of University of Sheffield and the Collegiate Crescent campus of Sheffield Hallam University. The hospital is run by the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (which also runs the Northern General Hospital), and is also in proximity to the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital and Weston Park Hospital, both of which are part of the Trust, and the Sheffield Children's Hospital, which is not.HistoryThe main building designed by Adams, Holden and Pearson and was completed in 1978 and was opened by HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales. The previous low-rise outpatient buildings (in the foreground) date from the 1950s and the 1960s. The building is in the shape of a T with the rear part of the building overhanging a service road. The hospital consists of three main interlinked buildings, the most significant being the monolithic 21-storey concrete structure, the third highest in Sheffield after St Pauls Tower and the Arts Tower. The hospital can also be seen from just about anywhere in the city and is a distinctive landmark. The incinerator stack is at the foot of the T.

My experience was above outstanding. As a first time mum I was really scared due to the hospitals not so good reputation. The staff never let me down whether I had a scan appointment or I had to ring triage due to reduced movements the staff always went above and beyond to make sure I was ok, doing every test to make sure me and my baby where safe. Whenever I had to stay in so they could carry out any necessary test my partner was allowed to stay which I’m very grateful for as I needed the help and support from him. I ended up having an induction which was my choice I was given more than enough information about the pros and the risk of being induced by the nurses and consultants which was very helpful. When it came to the day of my induction staff were very helpful, kind and caring kept checking in on me too see if me and my baby was ok the same day I was moved to the labour ward those staff where honestly so supportive whilst I gave birth and went above and beyond for my after care I went home the same day because of how great the staff were I had no complications. Honestly I have no complaints I’m just so grateful for the job they did and my son was born in a safe environment and we was well looked after the whole 9 months of my pregnancy thanks to the amazing staff.
Thank you to all of the staff involved in my care and the safe delivery of my son on Sunday 4th August. Having my first baby was a daunting experience but the wonderful midwives, doctors and support staff made me feel safe and confident and brought him here safely. I’ll be forever grateful!
The best moments of my life as a new father were ruined by this place. It was so unpleasant and unsettling that even months later, I cannot come to terms with it. It felt like the PROUD values never reached this place. From staff leaving my partner to deal with the baby while under the side effects of general anaesthetic to not changing the bed for three days while the sheets were soaked in blood. There were no communication skills, no compassion, and no sign of knowledge on how to deal with and care for post-surgery patients under general anaesthetic. I would not recommend this place to anyone.nnThe only person I cannot be grateful enough to is the consultant who performed the emergency cesarean and the theatre staff. Thank you!
I have heard lots about Jessop Wing is one of the best hospital in England or maybe in the UK and then when I experienced the services over here, couldn't say enough how good it was. The team was very supportive, enthusiastic, and professional. I would like to say Big Thanks to everyone taking care of me and my LO on the 7 Dec till 11 Dec 2023.
My baby and I received the best standard of care and support at Jessops hospital. Every member of staff and each student we came into contact with were absolutely amazing. They were all professional, caring, attentive, thorough in their work, communicated effectively and extremely efficient. I can't praise them enough. The whole experience of going for a scan, going to get food in the cafe, being treated in triage multiple times, giving birth, being on Norfolk ward, going back to have babies blood checked for jaundice and generally interacting staff from domestic duties, catering staff, midwives, support workers, doctors, students were all positive experiences. I trust Jessops and this made me.feel safe and empowered. The midwives are truly amazing people with the best senses of humour they deserve to be treated with respect. The only thing I have to complain about is the way other patients treat the staff. I witnessed some truly appalling behaviour towards the midwives. Some women treat them like glorified nannies and this really wound me up. They are professional people and should be treat as such. Treat them with the respect they deserve or expect patients like me to tell you straight!!nI want to say a massive thank you to the legend that is Angelina. She was my community midwife 2 years ago and is now working on the wards at Jessops. I was lucky enough to see her while staying over night last week. Jessops is very lucky to have this amazing lady working for them. Again though all staff were amazing and we as a family can't thank everyone enough involved in our care. Thank you, thank you and thank you!!
