Really nice library/communal place. It is mostly quiet though occasionally you may have people who shout not realising that it is a library not a park. A good pair of noise cancelling headphones does the job. I use the library mainly to work but it seems to have a good list of activities for adults and children. The interior is lovely with modern design and large tables. Clean spaces and toilets. The only thing is that a few plugs on tables don't work and they haven't been fixed in months now.
On multiple occasions have I had a problem printing at this location. The staff are condecending and rude, and have obviously not read their own policy. Disappointing. From the Idea Store's own webpage: "Printing Each Idea Stores public access PC is connected to a printer. Print services are chargeable and the cost is based on the number of pages printed and whether the mono or colour printer is used. Printouts are held in a queue and only released once the customer has paid the relevant charge. It is not currently possible for customers using the WiFi service to print via the public access printers. There is a charge for this service." Dear management - please inform the team about your policy. I wish to pay you, why make problems?
I have recently started to spend a lot of time here due to exam season. Honestly I didn’t expect for the idea store to offer so much for both adults and children. You can borrow books here, reserve and even request books that they don’t have online. Sometimes the reserve times are quite lengthy which I would say could do with improvements. This particular idea store has a great selection of books honestly and the online catalogue system makes it easy to confirm which books will be available in the idea store before you even go there physically to check which is great! There are working toilets/water dispensers so you can spend a whole day studying no problem. I would suggest to add in a prayer room if some sort for people who want to study the whole day without having to leave for prayers. Loads Of fun activities for children weekly as well as during the summer. Internet access is great. Sometimes other customers are very loud and so I find it hard to concentrate. Please do monitor noise levels in the study zones. Some plug sockets don’t work please do attend to these but overall a great place for studying/quiet time.
The children’s library is adorable, with good amount and variety. The staffs are very helpful. We love coming here
I went here about 10 years ago close to when it first opened in secondary school and school took us to make our idea store cards, we were given a tour and told how everything works, I think it’s really good because not everyone had a computer or laptop back then so great safe place to come and use the computer and internet. You can borrow books and cd’s and dvd’s, nowadays nobody really uses all this stuff but back then it was very useful especially for school kids who needed help with homework.
I wish that man who worked this morning in the children's library was more enthusiastic about the summer reading challenge and awarding medal. If he is not happy about working with kids he should move to adult section. He was not bothered at all, didnt say a word to my son who was excited about getting the prize. He literally killed the whole idea of summer reading challenge excitment..
We went to borrow some chapter books for my eight year old. Unfortunately, because we haven't been active on our account, our account got terminated which means another trip will need to be made with ID to make a new application. This is quite a nuisance. However, we did stay for the story session and my three year old loved it! Hopefully next we come, we can take some books.
extremly rude staff there. felt very uncomfortable when staff literally follwing baby around and complaing cant touch this that etc. they want it untouched like some sort of palace. replace your staff with younger people please. not old moany rude ppl. 0 stars if i could give.
Rugina & Florence are absolutely outstanding at their job, we often bring our daughter to story time and they do it with passion. We love coming here, especially when they are there.
Came to study for an upcoming exam, most of the session was spent wasted trying to focus as the librarian decided to speak at the top of his voice trying to explain how to scan pages of forms for a library user, personal details now known to all! The library user was so quiet we barely heard him at all but thanks to the Librarian we were all fully versed in what he was scanning to whom he was trying to send it and what he was attempting to scan to the council. Absolutely awful experience in all, felt awful for the poor man.
