Its a nice space, however is not great for concentrating on study / work as they have activities with young children without noise isolation so is hard to concentrate with kids screaming, singing and crying for long periods of time even with noise cancelling headphones can still hear a lot of noise. It would be great if they closed off study areas for adults as otherwise is just a very noisy library for kids.
Fantastic library! Clean and well laid out, friendly staff, great area for young kids, printers, plenty of seating and even a coffee shop!
Friendly cafe, very fast internet. Does get a bit loud in the afternoon when lots of parents bring their young children in after school but I always find I have a productive time here
Super easy printing service with Wi-Fi and Apple Pay. Friendly staff as well. Would recommend!
I've only ever gone in to use the printing and computers, but the staff is lovely and there is a nice cafe on premises.
very nice library except for the homeless people making a ton of noise and insulting you for no reason.
Worst Library experience I've ever had. Children allowed to run around. So much noise!! Not a place to concentrate and study/work. No air con as either so was sweating on an extremely hot day. This is not a library it's a social hub now and should be advertised as such so people like me will plan to go else where.
Very helpful and knowledgeable team with an excellent coffee shop in the library :
The John Harvard Library is awesome, they have lots of seats , bench areas, desk areas where you can charge your laptop , loads and loads of books , I think they may sell coffee and drinks at the entrance but I did not sit there so I am not 100% certain, it was very busy, you should probably get there early to get a seat as the early bird catches the worm ! They have toilets . Library was really really clean There is a fantastic Archive Research Library whose staff are amazing, very very helpful and I accidentally overheard some history in that there were 40 Forty Thieves in the Elephant and Castle area ! I can really recommend this library .
Reopened. Cafe reopened now to. Adult book selection not as good as other Southwark libraries. Though children’s section is good. Was rather frustrated that they tried to fine me for books I dropped though the book drop they advised people to use during lockdown only to find they hadn’t recorded the books as returned. Was able to sort fairly quickly though.
