I love the book collection here. But that day there was a large event, so quite loud in the library. I applied a reader card here, the staff is very nice and there is quite a lot material and service I can get access to within this little card.
Has potential to be an amazing arts library but this section is quite disorganised. As far as art books go, the library only seems to have about 1/3rd of the ones that show as being available at the barbican when you look online. This is often because they don’t fit in the library shelves and so are kept downstairs. So if say if you want to just have a casual browse of a particular subject area, you have to specify which books in particular you want to be taken out from the basement. And as is the case with books - you don’t really know which is the right one until you flick through them to see the contents. It would be amazing if they could reorganise the space to have these books upstairs.
Went this Monday afternoon after reading the reviews and seeing online that it was supposedly not a busy time, how wrong was i? It was packed to the brim literally not a single place to sit adults and there were so many school kids today! The library itself looked decent but i didn't get to explore much today as it was overwhelmimgly packed, hopefully i can go a quieter day although i'm not sure if there are quite days or if it is it busy like this all the time!
I stopped by the Barbican library this morning and I must commend the staff on duty this morning. Very helpful gentleman helped print my doc and showed utmost kindness. Think his name is Jonathan. Thanks for the outstanding service.
Congratulations to the brilliant mind who decided to place a silent piano next to the study area . The constant banging sound of the keys being pressed really helps to concentrate . Amazing !
An amazing library, with an excellent study place. Great food downstrairs, and you could easily spend a day reading, searching or studying. Multiple desk areas and seats available to sit down, read etc.
A wonderful Library. Rotating art exhibitions, great collection of books, music and DVDs. Relaxing atmosphere and helpful staff.
Putting a silent piano inside a library is extremely noisy with the keys being pressed, and it is very disturbing to everyone trying to work. I would urge to move the piano anywhere else but in a library.
Free Wi-Fi. The library is located inside of Barbican centre.
A vast number of books, music books & CDs & a Vinyl listening corner, make it a pleasurable place to spend a while chillinghowever long you have really I enjoyed looking around there today
