Superb close view of a large number of Gorillas and Elephants makes this an excellent day out and makes it value for money. Enclosures are massive and the animals clearly are thriving. Things seemed to us a little dated compared to other Zoos in terms of presentation and information about the animals and it also seemed a slightly higher price for a family ticket than Marwell, for example. Hence only 4 stars... seems a bit mean as money is clearly going into conservation. Nevertheless a great day out and well worth a visit for the main attractions already mentioned.

Great day out. Luckily the day we chose was quiet. We had a sandwich at the cafe which was good quality. Just wish we had waited and eaten at the restaurant instead. All in all good day.

Great zoo, with a huge range of animals. It's the most ethical zoo, I've ever come across with a focus on reintroducing animals back into the wild. This is great compared to other zoos where the animals pace and look unhappy. They're obviously well looked after at Howletts and as a member I would certainly recommend a yearly pass as it's great value for money!

I have been a member on and off the last 3 years and the prices have risen significantly, is it worth it; yes for the elephants and gorillas alone. I have a 5 year old son and he does get a little bored and the playground is at the back of the park and going off peak for example after school the only refreshment stand open is again at the back of the park or at the entrance. I have been to other zoos in the area and there's more to do for children at these zoos however for the range and quality of animal you see at howletts its still the best.
