Terrible station, most mornings a dozen trains are delayed by an hour and then cancelled once the hour has passed with an excuse “because it’s late we are just going to cancel it” so even if you wanted to get a taxi you’d have already wasted an hour waiting in the cold. You’d think they’d try to fix the issues that constantly arise every morning and makes people that go to work late and school children but no. Not to add the fact that when you wait on the platform or in any waiting room there is no heating whatsoever I’m sure they used to turn it on but now it’s -3 degrees theyve decided to stop unless you stand in a crowded cafe with nowhere to sit which wouldnt usually be an issue if you didn’t have to wait an hour and a half for your delayed train that will probably be cancelled once youve waited anyway but hey ho! The toilets are also disgusting most of the time. If you want to be early to work or school don’t use this station unless you want your hands to turn blue from freezing to death whilst you wait 2 hours for your train to turn up !
We had a 45 minute wait here at ashford for our connection.. on platform 1 the mens and ladies toilets were a disgrace. They stank. The smell was so strong that it almost made my wife throw up... these toilets are by far the worst I've ever been in. We then wanted to buy a coffee... £4.75 is a joke and it was starbucks says it all. 1 star is generous
More staff needed on the ticket booths. Not everyone is comfortable with using self service. Why are so many staff standing around chatting on the barriers and one on the ticket counter. We got there early but still running for our train because of this.
Thanks to the member of staff, Benjamin. He was incredibly helpful this morning when I was purchasing a ticket and collecting some for another day. He greeted me with a lovely smile and made my morning after not having the best one before that
Quite a nice little national rail station.nIt's well staffed, has toilets, is mostly clean and it has a decent number of platforms.nnOutside of the station is free bicycle parking and a bus stop station. The entrance has small gates with a disabled access gate, but this is fine in my opinion.nnThe automated information boards are live and updated too. I prepurchased my tickets before going through here, so I can't comment how easy it is to buy tickets here.
