A lovely and very well cared for Park which is a credit to the volunteers and helpers who look after it so well. Well equipped play area with adult gym area, free toilets, plenty of benches and a nice little garden centre in the middle as well. The plants were excellent and the grass had no weeds in sight as well. The recycling bins were a good touch as well.
The Homestead Park is a beautiful place! Although the park area was closed, as we went late after school, we enjoyed the amazing trees and pond and colourful autumnal fallen leaves
What a lovely place to just relax on your own or take the family from old to young. The place has a great park for the children of all ages with a great choice of amusement, perfect walks and places to eat. There are a lovely arrangement of flower beds that are created differently every year and a very well priced ice cream stall that sells homemade produce. Unfortunately we were unable to see the pond as it was cornered off, but, we will be back again. We saw squirrels, a lot of other nature including interesting birds and butterflies. Best park I’ve been to in a long time!
This is a large Park with a magnificent collection of trees & shrubs on 2 sides of a harassed field. Unfortunately the water area where their are ducks was fenced for maintenance work but we were able to continue to the flower beds which were in full bloom. There was a lot of noise from children enjoying the separate play area but we gave it a miss as there was a threat of rain. We visited the food wagon & enjoyed a coffee & as a chill descended made our exit. There is ample parking, with disabled bays & wheelchair access.
Beautiful park, well kept. Small. Very peaceful environment. We took our dogs for a walk around the park. There were lots of recycling bins but only found one general waste bin at the entrance so had to carry our poo bags around with us until we left. Good car parking space.
I live nearby and this is THE tip park for me both to walk and drive to. It has a real sense of being owned and cared for with personality by the bucket load. The space is varied, with a play park, open space and designed gardens that feel well established in a regal and traditional way, mixed with modern, standout arty features. There's an outdoor gym oddly, next to the children's play area, but at least it's there and when you're done, you can go for a walk on the river. The only thing I've not interacted with is the Explore reading part with the snack truck outside not sure how often either are open, although they're both prominent. Oh and free public loos including baby change and disabled in the same room, from what I remember foldnin winter. Has a brief chat with the Head Gardener at closing time! Nice guy!
Lovely park - we've had many lovely dog walks here and our daughter loves it
Probably one of the best parks in York. Loads for the kids to do, decent ice creams on offer. Take a picnic and make a day of it! Parking can get a little tight at busy times though.
Beautiful spring morning. Dew on the grass sunny but with a chill. The gardens immaculate as usual so tranquil. Our favourite place In York for chilling. The garden shop was open lovely plants for sale.
Incredibly well designed and maintained gardens that are attractive all year round. The annual themed garden this year Wallace and Grommet is always a treat, and the playground is very well equipped for all ages of children. The Meadow section, with its more natural design, has come a long way, and is great for a stroll or a picnic. Probably our favourite gardens in York. Would benefit from a permanent cafe, but the Explore Library mobile Cafe and tent are good, and the Youth Hostel cafe good coffee and cakes is only a short walk around the corner.
