Usually use Travelodge but this was one step up in my view. Friendly staff, great air conditioned rooms, super soft pillows and sheets. Slept really well and it was about 20 degrees outside. Large tv, cooked buffet breakfast included. However, I would have liked choice of a bath rather than having to have a shower all the time, lots of budget hotels are doing this. The toilet made a horrible noise when flushed and the shower head leaked from the shower hose. I did report these to reception and this information was gratefully received. It seems from other reviews that some rooms don’t have air conditioning, I think I may have been lucky and in the new part.
Night service managers the two ladies D & D. BEST customer service we've experienced in a long time from a variety of hotels we have stayed in both in Britain and in Europe. Two night stay made us feel very welcome. Both ladies go the extra mile. The rooms comfortable and clean breakfast value for money included in room rate. Value for money stay
Incredibly friendly staff who are always happy to help, I checked I'm very late 9-10pm so I think it's a 24-hour reception service which if get if so. In to of that the establishment is kept very clean is waste and inviting, the included breakfast is delicious as well. Then there room was nice too, on the bed you have the choice if soft or firm pillows depending on your personal preference, the ONLY downside is that there's no plugs next to the bed so when charging your phone you have to leave it across the room from you.
Staff were brilliant, polite and very helpful which boosts my rating. Breakfast more than ample choice and pretty nice. Plenty of parking and secure round the side. Room was a good size, we had a double and a single bed in the room. All looked fairly clean, however there was small fibres on everything, I assume from a cloth or the bedding? There was also a musky smell which seemed to come from the carpet. Poss under the bed. I did mention it and I'm not sure anything was done to deodorise it but it did seem a little better the second night unless I'd got used to it ! Shower mat was mouldy but i assume it because they roll it up rather than hang it. The remote had tape on the back which meant the batteries weren't being held in but they quickly gave us a replacement one. There was also tea spillage dried on under the cup doily and hug spiders and webs on the window in and out so couldn't open it and had to kick a spider out as he didn't contribute to the room fee lol Bathroom was very clean overall and handy to have some soap dispensers and hairdryer. Some improvements needed but would use again if needed.
Had to stay here a couple of years ago. And as I am disabled I had to have an especially adapted room. The room was kept immaculate by the staff. And as I have to have carers they were shown, directly to my room. So that could help me. The staff were amazing nothing was too much of a problem for them. They looked after me perfectly. They have my recommendation. This was also a last minute booking as it was not my fault that I had to spend the week their.
I was very unhappy with the state of the room and the service I recieved. We had a room with a sofa bed, when I opened the sofa bed I noticed there was no bed sheets which is unacceptable. I then rang down to reception and the receptionist said she would come up and bring some sheets which she did. To my surprise she handed me the sheets for me to do myself. Quite frankly I was gobsmacked and shocked that she handed it to me to do myself, after paying for this service in the total price. This is not a self catering hotel so this should not have happened. After trying to do the sheets myself I discovered the sheets she handed me was for a double bed and I only had a single duvet meaning this was not going to work. At this point I was fuming. I went downstairs to reception to explain my concerns, shock and horror I had experienced within 30mins of my arrival to the hotel. I asked to have our room changed, to a room that is actually ready with bed sheets etc. Luckily the member of reception was lovely and really understanding. She helped us get a new room and gave us complimentary drinks for our troubles. The new room was better as sheets were on bed etc, room wasn't entirely clean to my standards, but I just got on with it and cleaned myself. One disappointing thing with this new room was there was only 1 double socket available in the whole room to charge our electrical. I was staying with my two kids meaning we had to take turns in using the plug. To be honest at this point I couldn't be bothered to kick up a fuss about that, and just got on with things counting down the days for departure. I did not have a pleasant stay, facilities was not up to scratch. These things are basic essential things needed for a pleasant stay. Unfortunately it was not met on this occasion and I would probably not be staying in the holiday inn express again after what we experienced which was a shame.
Just for an overnight stop-over. Clean and tidy. Room was well laid out. Staff friendly enough. Plenty of choices laid out for eat as much as you want breakfast which was very nice, well cooked and presented. Location would not be ideal for a longer stay without a vehicle.
I’d like to share my experience: I got a comfortable sleep on the bed, found the shower to have decent power and liked the spacious free parking. The staff were also very welcoming. However, the hotel, although I understand it is a 3-star is maintained to a standard below the standard. Initially the cobwebs along the staircase raised some concern I decided to let it go as it is summer and our 8-legged comrades need a vacation too, especially after the long lockdown. However it was not okay to find one in the shower. Coupled with this there was a disgusting amount of grime and dirt in the bathroom and between the tiles in the shower and the seals. If a bathroom was cleaned properly this would not be there. Some other things: the lighting in the room was terrible, no mini fridge, no AC, I’m guessing there will be some rooms with AC as for a 3-star hotel it a must that 50% do. The ironing board was very tatty. The iron was a very cheap quality which actually burnt a garment of ours. Mismatching colour shade of bulbs in the lamps. When it comes to food I’m not a fussy one but the breakfast was not enjoyed: tasteless scrambled eggs and cheap beans. I then tried the cornflakes but the milk was some nasty tasting powdered stuff or maybe it was soya. No option of fresh dairy milk. I resorted to croissants and orange juice for the duration of my stay which were good. My room also did not have sufficient number of plugs and there weren’t any USB socket ones, expected from any modern hotel. I checked out a day earlier and I’m glad I did. I hope I’ve helped you to make an informed decision regarding Castle Bromwich Holiday Inn Birmingham.
Room is not very clean lots of dust on the wooden side Panel Around the wall, Headboard, Lampshade very dusty and under the bed. The bed is very springy cheap mattress..For the money i have paid, I would have got a better cleaner room at the Premier Inn Hotel... The paint on the bathroom ceiling is flaking in some area, and Shower tub seal is not done very nicely.
Hotel itself is ok, it’s reasonably clean. The rooms are maintained to a low standard but then it is a budget hotel so in line with expectations really. The biggest issue, yet again is with the free WiFi, I just could not get connected to Netflix while using the WiFi- I had to start up a VPN then connect. Not a massive deal but an extra step I had to take to circumvent their somewhat primitive restrictions.
