Story

As Halifax's first and only four star hotel, Holdsworth House Hotel & Restaurant is a firm favourite for weddings, eating out and meetings/training events. Holdsworth House has beautiful walled gardens surrounded by grazing paddocks, yet it's only minutes from Halifax. The 2 AA Rosette restaurant prepares and cooks all dishes for our weddings and events fresh using local ingredients wherever possible.

Strange experience really. When we arrived the staff were very attentive but as the evening wore on not attentive at all. The food was reasonable but unimaginative and not overly hot. Long waits between every course and we had to remind the waiter that we'd ordered coffee. We waited for 15 minutes after we had clearly finished the meal for a waiter to attend us then had to wander around the reception area to find someone (anyone) to get the bill. Then had to repeat the process to ask yet again. We waited ten minutes for our coats then they couldn't find them so we had to identify them ourselves. We left wondering whether we would return _ probably not! This restaurant has clearly rested on it's distant laurels. Someone needs to be reminded that you're only as good as your last review. Shame really, sad little place.

Excellent. The hotel was really cosy with ice and sub-zero temperatures outside. Lovely room with good bathroom. Great breakfast. Very helpful and positive staff at reception, on the bar and in the restaurant. Thank you for comfortable stay.

A bit of a curate's egg experience. Stunning building, once you find the front of it. Rear entrance a bit understated. Pleasant interior but dark, as expected with a house of this age. Room had pleasant interior fittings, but was a touch on the small side and was built into the roof so one-third of the room was restricted by height. Velux window only, so not light. Shower only. Noisy wedding group next door could be easily heard enjoying themselves. Breakfast very good but minor requests like coffee and toast were forgotten/overlooked. Drinks in the bar expensive.

Romantic setting offering great food and drinks. We had our works Christmas Party here again. All our food arrived as ordered, tasty and above all else hot. My of criticism was the waiting staff were really full of the joys. We will be booking again next year.
