I was unfortunate to have to have chemotherapy & Radiotherapy here.nSome of the staff on sunflower suite simply didn’t have a clue, one nurse in particular was always chewing gum & had a flippant attitude.nAnother clearly wasn’t qualified to fit a picc line, a few people also agreed & had to have it fitted somewhere else.nFollow up ‘appointments’ are a quick 5 minutes on the phone.nAnd any kinda complaint is quickly swept under the carpet.nI now refuse to go there anymore, I wouldn’t trust them with my cat , let alone my life.
The first follow-up my mother has received in 3 years and via telephone consultation at that, thanks to the excuse of COVID, 3 years on, where she is supposed to receive annual follow-up following treatment 4 years ago. A very rushed and disingenuous phone conversation with Dr Attra. Accused of not picking up the phone in previous years when I explained we did not receive an appointment letter until after the date had passed, nor did we receive any phone calls. I know this for a fact because I have called up constantly to chase this up. She would not let me get a word in edgewise and the entire conversation involved her telling me to speak to either the GP or the surgeon about the lack of follow-up for various issues whilst deflecting any responsibility for the oncology team. When I explained that I had already attempted to be in contact with these teams multiple times, she implied I'm not trying hard enough. Have always found it difficult to speak to this doctor due to her rushed nature, and this conversation has left both my mother and I extremely frustrated. If the oncology team see this message, I strongly urge you to address Dr Attra's flippant bedside manner, for the sake of your patients. The NHS is dysfunctional enough, without its own staff members adding to it.
Just finished 6 courses of chemo therapy at sunflower suite. Nothing but praise and admiration for all of the nurses and doctors who looked after and cared for me during my treatments. Next step, CT & Bone Scans. Everything Crossed !
Always ready to listen. Can never do enough for you. Great people.
Always perfect treatment.
