I have been a customer for many years, the advice has always proven spot on and the equipment equally so. Ian and Mike have a wealth of experience, and if you’re looking for AV or audio systems, that are reliable and will give that wow factor, a visit to the showroom or a demo is definitely worthwhile.
A belated review. I have never visited a hifi shop and felt as judged as I did in this shop. I was barely listen to and told I’d be better off going over to Richer Sounds, which I did where I bought my new turntable and speakers. My wife said it was the closest you could get to the scene in pretty woman where someone grossly underestimates how much you may be able to spend.
It was about time that I refreshed my system so I initially phoned Gulliford and asked about a new cartridge. I spoke to Iain and he gave me good advice. Took my turntable in for them to fit the new cartridge and we got chatting about speakers. To cut a long story shorter, Iain came up with a suitable pair of speakers so he demoed them and I bought them as well. The sound is amazing thanks to their good advice. It is like I have a new record collection. If you are serious about your sound then I can wholeheartedly recommend Iain and the team.
OK, so if you are just looking to go in and just grab something of the shelf, this may not be the place for you. If you want genuine helpful staff invested in helping you make informed choices then this definitely the place for you. Me and my mate spent a wonderful morning selecting the the best set up that matched his budget. I can't recommend Gulliford enough. Give these guys a try you won't regret it
I used this shop over 20 years ago and service has always been first class - when I needed a new piece of equipment a few months ago I was pleased to find they still remembered me and what system I had even though many years had passed since my last visit. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else - places like this are a rarity and becoming more so thanks to the internet.
This store was recommended to me as the larger chain stores I visited were clueless and immediately engaged in a sales pitch for new equipment . From the moment I walked into Gulliford Hi-Fi I felt welcomed . Excellent one to one Service and very attentive. Staff very friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Once I explained the issue, they were able to solve my problem with my existing speakers and stereo system without trying to sell me a new one. On this basis will 100% give them my business when I eventually need to buy a new one. Highly recommend to any one looking for a one to one service.

Just had my LP12 serviced by Mike and following Ian’s recommendations had a new cartridge fitted and bought some ex demo Dynaudio speakers. Got home and WOW! The old Naim system has never sounded so good. Mike and Ian never ‘do a hard sell’ and based in my experience do not need to as they simply ‘know their stuff’ . Great shop and great service
THE HIFI SHOP NOT WORTH VISITING!!! I have only visited this shop once, and in my own personal opinion. That was one visit to many. I did not like the sales person one bit. I got the impression my going to the store to buy some speakers was a real inconvenience to him. I have heard from other HiFi retailers, i am not the only one that has come away from Gullifords with the same feeling. I have never visited since, and have no intention of doing so. I do not recommend this store.
Took in my Linn Sondek turntable for new cartridge and set up, all done within a couple of hours. Very knowledgable and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
