Lovely atmosphere and beautiful surrounding landscape with the canal right next to the dining area. Large garden area too! Food was lovely and very good size portions. Women's toilets were nice and clean, although my partner commented on the men's toilet being broken and not properly attached to the floor. Overall nice experience :Service: 4/5
We have been for the last two Sundays. Beautiful setting by the river Stour. Boats sail past plus canoes and paddle boards. There has been live music playing each time we've been and both times that has been really good. Not eaten there but the food smells and looks really good. There are outside games to keep the children amused. In the summertime on a hot sunny day it's hard to find anywhere better.
Lovely time spent in their garden. Lots of space and tables with umbrellas for shade. Good choice of food for lunch. Had the chicken, pesto and tomato sandwich which came with crisps and salad on lovely brown wholemeal bread, definitely recommend. Also the garlic, cheese skun on flies which were also very nice. Looking forward to returning
First visit here and at first thought had stumbled across a gem. the setting is simply amazing, they had singers on who were great but we waited 2 hours for 2 pizzas and 2 sandwiches. the brie and bacon sandwiches turned up cold. They had a wedding in at the same time which had clearly impacted on service. huge let downService: 1/5
Setting is nice but I would not recommend to eat here. We came with a big group of people and at least 60% of us didn't enjoy their food at all. For the prices you pay the quality of food is very disappointing.
We have been coming to the Grove Ferry Inn annually for a long time and this was the first time it has disappointed. We were shocked at how much it has changed. The location is still beautiful - right on the river but that is all I could now recommend about it. The two ladies who served us were very polite and helpful but the food was dreadful and very expensive considering the quality. The burgers were really cheap-looking and pink in colour, the 'caramelised' onions were sloppy and wet when we mentioned this, the owner said it was because they were cooked in beer!, the steak tasted off and although my friend sent it back to be cooked a bit more, she couldn't finish it because of the awful taste. The toilets are smelly and the whole pub seems generally dirty. So sad that this beautiful pub has gone this way. We won't be visiting again.
Great location but very tired pub nowadays. Our seat had lots of old food ground into it, was generally bit grubby and food was average at best. Shame as the location is perfect. Needs a make over and decent food.Service: 3/5
Came in after a nice walk by the river, asked for a menu and waiter just didn’t seem happy at all, went inside got one. Ordered 2 cokes both we’re flat in 2 minutes if that and a pizza which took around 20 minutes. Pizza was very bland with almost no taste at all and quite expensive at that. Very very rubbery cheese and just not a good experience at all to be honest. Won’t be going back
I never usually leave reviews but this has to be the worst meal we’ve ever been out for. We paid £40 for 5 bits of frozen scampi, a veggie burger that looked like an inner sole that had been rub over by my car on the way in…. The bun was dry and had no sauce at all. How can they expect to charge these prices? Don’t go and waste your money here
Wonderful selection of food and I had a delicious sandwich which was huge. In fact I shared it with my Mum and it kept us fed till dinner time. However, my 19 year old son ordered the a £10+ bowl of loaded crispiers with Bear Island onions and Apple wood Cheese, big disappointment basically potato chips cut and bent with oily onions and hidden cheese. He was starving so ate it up but was a sad show. My other son had the steak pie and this was again delicious and worth the money. We would definitely come again as set on the Riverside in a lovely location and a great find but just wouldn't order the crispiers as we seen the cheesy chips were half the price and same size portion.
