Our all time favourite place! We stayed over on a mid-week break for my husbands birthday and were so very impressed. The atmosphere in the pub itself is great and the service from all the staff was excellent. Hugh, Adam and young Ben were outstanding! Each one so friendly and helpful in a very relaxed and open way. We happened to be there for Steak Night - two steak meals and a bottle of wine for £45. Outstanding value - and altogether delicious!. Our room was a delight with so many thoughtful touches. It was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast this morning was delicious. We enjoyed every minute of it all and will be back again and again. Thnaks to each and every one of you that made our stay so enjoyable. Rooms: Warm, comfortable and clean. Very well equipped. Food & drinks: Sensational!
Honestly, this is by far my favourite place to visit. We had a spontaneous drive down and popped in for dinner. It was absolutely beautiful inside and I cannot fault one thing. The staff were incredibly friendly and great company to have throughout the night. The food was brilliant. There wasn’t a crumb left, I’d highly recommend the Clementine Meringue for desert! If anyone is looking for an authentic country pub with great food, company and atmosphere please give this place a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Also, a special shout out to the kind gentlemen who paid our bill without us knowing. If you read this review, please know we are extremely grateful and I am sorry we were not able to tell you in person. Regards, James & Co
Gorgeous pub in the beautiful village of Ickham. Popped in for some lunch with the family and the food was fresh and delicious. Menu had a good range of staples as well as some good locally sourced options. Nice range of beers on tap and some good guest beers too. Quiz night and a steak night during the week too. Really friendly staff and would love to come back soon.
Nice room, we were in the Floyd room, good size, spotlessly clean, good shower. If you plan on sleeping while the pub is open...forget about it, you might as well be in the bar for the noise level. Once everyone including the staff leave it is super quiet. Very nicely presented breakfast the next morning with good coffee
Popped in after a Sunday afternoon walk and it was perfect! Log fire lit, dog friendly, busy pub with smiley service. We didn’t eat but we wish we’d ordered the roasts as they looked amazing. Good choice of bar snacks. Will definitely be going back
Lovely country pub with delicious food and efficient staff. Had the beetroot starter which was tasty. Followed by the roasted duck, bubble & squeak and kale, superb! For dessert I had the chocolate pot with orange coulis and honeycomb, another well presented and enjoyable dish.
Had an awesome evening here last night....a warm, friendly greeting as soon as we arrived and every member of staff made us feel super welcome! Food was delicious though at the higher end of the price scale for us and drinks were lovely. We would happily have stayed even longer if we hadn't been the last ones to leave already! Highly recommend
Lovely pub with great food. We stayed in the Floyd room. Bathroom needed a little TLC but room was nice with some nice touches the decanter of Port was so good! staff were amazing, from the second we arrived they were so friendly and welcoming. Dinner was really good, well worth the visit.
My first visit and the food was superb, service excellent and friendly ambience. I’ll definitely be back and will highly recommend it to others too. Didn’t realise I liked kale but yours was so fresh and perfectly cooked had it with the duck which was perfectly pink and tender! And the clementine meringue pie was a tasty take on the original, together with toasted pistachios. All in all a great lunch experience.
Great local pub with a good selection of drinks and friendly staff. Well worth popping in for a drink if you are in the area. I didn't have the food but what I saw come out looked really inviting. Has an outside area with heaters on it for winter too.
