The room was in need of a freshen up, you couldn't open a window, the room thermostat was super complicated or it just didn't work, as we could not get the AC to work. We were given 2 cans of water in the room on the first day. But not on our second day, but paid the same price. The reception staff though were very polite.
We had a great stay at the Grey Street hotel! The rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had requested a specific room and this was no issue! We also came with our dog that was treated like a king! We had a dog bed, treats and bowl in our room on arrival. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!
I stayed in the Thomas Bewick room the Grey Street Hotel for my wedding weekend, and it was amazing. The room was large and spacious, with a view of Greys Monument and relatively quiet apart from the sound of seagulls, what could be heard in the bathroom from the skylight. The bed was incredibly comfy and large, the bathroom was also spacious with a free standing bath and a large shower. I visited the hotel's restaurant, leila lily's, what had amazing service even when I added an extra 2 people, at the last moment for my reservation. The food was delicous and the cocktails were reasonably priced. I would 100% recommend this hotel Rooms: Room were large and beautiful decorated. The bed was amazingly comfortable Walkability: Bottom of Grey Street so walking distance from the quayside, the Theatre and the centre of Newcastle. I walked to Blackfriars, a restaurant on the otherwise of Newcastle next to the Gate and it took less than 10 minutes
Great location when staying in Newcastle, 10 minutes walk from train station, very central for eating, drinking out, shopping and the Theatre. Hotel has a lovely bar and restaurant great decor throughout. We had their afternoon tea which was very good. Staff pleasant and helpful.Rooms: 4/5
We regularly stay at this hotel. The location is good, the rooms clean and comfortable, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The freshly cooked breakfasts are lovely.Rooms: 4/5
Pleasant place to stay. The only very minor grumble was the window was a bit small, and you could on occasion hear the pedestrian crossing beeps on the road outside couldn't hear the car's though. But, the hotel and breakfast were very pleasant. Would stay there again
Enjoyed a great stay at this 'boutique style' hotel centrally located in Newcastle. Close access to shops, restaurants and bars, and very close to the river. Hotel room was delightful.Rooms: 5/5
Grey Street Hotel is a lovely intimate experience placed right in the centre of Newcastle. Everything you could possibly need is only a few minutes away including metro links and the coach station. Rooms are clean on arrival and cleaned every night of your stay. Very easy check in process and flawless check out. Nearby activities: Newcastle Castle, St. James Park, large shopping centres.
Too much of room 42 is given to the bathroom, yes a big bath but who uses that. The bed was small, much smaller than my wife and I are used to. I had asked for a room with a walk in shower as I find showers over baths dangerous I am 76 and wobbly on my pins but we did not get one! I wanted porridge for breakfast it was very good but was not permitted bacon and egg as well, only one cooked dish for the price- very mean. Staff were friendly. Walkability: Good central location for all the sights
The staff have been so lovely! We really appreciated how friendly they were, and especially the warm reception our dog received Very conveniently located close to the train station. Noteworthy details: Very dog friendly! You can hear some noises in the hallway eg. Doors opening and closing which did not disturb us humans but which is very exciting to our dog. When we booked we asked if we could have a room located in a more quiet part, and they placed us in the end of a hallway which was great!
