Myself and my partner stayed here for a one night escape after our wedding. We arrived an hour early, and the helpful receptionist allowed us to check in early. Our room was very clean and comfortable. However, the water pressure was fairly poor in the shower and bath. We dined in the hotel restaurant that evening and further received great service and the food was lovely. Attached to the hotel is the 'Gin bar', which was a lovely little bar to sit and grab some food and drink whilst being serenaded by a fantastic pianist. I wanted to surprise my partner with a bottle of fizz in the room, and they couldn't be more accommodating with my request and even went beyond and decorated the room with rose petals. We also made use of the spa and had two treatments each. They were both relaxing, and the service received was professional. The pool was quiet, and they had a small jacuzzi and a shallow pool, which was refreshing to swim in. The steam room was fairly small, and not many people could fit in at a time, so if it was busy, that would be more of an issue. We finished our stay at the plaza with breakfast in the morning, which was a tasteful variety, a mixture of hot and cold foods. This hotels location is near the city centre and has plenty of bars near it and restaurants, making it an ideal place to stay for a getaway. Myself and my wife both would recommend staying at the Crowne Plaza.
The hotel itself is very modern, clean and bright which I enjoyed, Unfortunately I found haribo wrappers in my room which was a clear sign it wasn't cleaned correctly. On top of this our shower didn't have any conditioner or shampoo in the bottles. I did attempt the contact the front desk & the pool service by the telephone in the room but unfortunately they cut off and didn't actually connect me to anyone. I came here for my birthday which I told the hotel but I didn't get any "happy birthday" upon arrival as I was expecting unfortunately, even though it was one of the options on their booking system. Pool area was very nice, gin bar was extremely expensive. I most likely would come here again, just a few negatives here and there which let it down.
It’s a hotel. The facilities were clean and useful. The staff was friendly but not terribly helpful. I had to repeatedly ask for basic service like providing towels they took all of our towels and didn’t replace any. On one occasion we came back and found the garbage bag from the entire floor left in our room. Another time, I called for towels in the evening and the guy just let himself in without knocking. He walked in while we were dressing. I ordered room service one night and they never brought it. After 2 hours had to ask for a refund. It wasn’t horrible, and they took care of every complaint eventually, but it felt like a lot of stuff that I should not have needed to complain about for the price. The restaurant food on site was ok but not great. It was hotel food. The bright spot that kept this from being a lower star review was the executive lounge and the staff there esp Sally. They were engaging, polite, and provided great service to value. Also, the pool and locker facilities were well kept, staffed, and clean.
Absolutely unreal, first night staying and room was like a blessing to walk in, nice clean and fresh, and it comes with all your supplements and even packets of hot chocolate to ensure we have a cosy stay. Will definitely be back. Staff so lovely and nice they gave us some good information 100% recommend this place. Could not fault this hotel at all!
Excellent stay here. Stephenson quarter car park level 10 is perfect for parking and is still at ground level for the hotel which feels a bit weird. Lol. Was £12 to park for 24hrs. Staff behind counter in the hotel were lovely, friendly and funny. Had a good laugh. Didnt get to experience the brekfast as was room only. The room was excellent and the hotel itself is well placed for a stoll into town. Will definately stay again!
THE worst nights sleep ever!- pillows flat, bumpy and lumpy disgraceful for this kind of hotel, mattress so hard and very uncomfortable did not sleep a wink. And this is not the first time for this very poor standard I have experienced. Spa facilities/pool area pointless going as can never get in due to children running around screaming, jumping in and out of pool it’s like your local leisure centre not relaxing and quiet at all so pointless attempting to try, this is like this daily as children have no time restrictions to use pool. Overall I will not be staying at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle ever again!
Arrived our first day asked about a upgrade we are silver elite. Was told.no you only get upgraded if you stay for one. Night. We were here for 3 nights so much for our loyalty. When we got to our room the toilet had I think used face wipes in the bowl. So I think we will be using Marriot hotels in the future. Silver Status means nothing spend your .money else where.
I've just returned from a spa day with my mum and sister and I'm hugely disappointed. We've had several spa days at the hotel but this was really poor. Firstly they no longer give slippers, while I understand this for sustainability reasons, as this is the norm for spa days you need to explicitly say this at booking, not just say you give robes and towels. While the floors were clean, not everyone used shoe coverings that's gross. The pool had a large group of screaming children. Who were being badly supervised by one man. we had to complain twice and while the staff were understanding it only got slightly better. I do understand guests to the hotel can use the pool and spa but I feel perhaps they need to have a time for adults only when you have spa guests. It was uncomfortable and stressful to have to complain and ruined the relaxing experience of the spa time. They crowded out the steam room and jacuzzi too for long periods of time. We talked to another guest staying at the hotel and she said the group were behaving the same way yesterday. So your staff knew this group was a problem and still allowed them to return, this is completely unacceptable. If it was just a one off I'd be more forgiving but it wasn't. The woman on reception at the spa was really apologetic and gave us 3 day passes, while I appreciate this that doesn't take away from the fact that the spa time was like a council swimming pool for all but 20 min. In addition we were told there was a no mobile phone policy and there are lots of signs up, but guests were using phones and this was not enforced. Again this isn't ok. The treatments were good as they always are, this was the only good part of the day. The afternoon tea was appalling. The service was unbelievably slow, especially given there were only two tables in the whole restaurant. Staff disappeared for long periods of time meaning getting more drinks was hard. Everything was so slow, food, drinks even getting an extra napkin. I got up several times to try to find staff to no avail. There were staff and managers sitting down having meetings who could see we needed help and were looking for staff but didn't bother to help. While the girl serving us was friendly she was really very slow. The member of staff who initially seated us couldn't provide a cocktail menu when we asked for one, then gave us a list of cocktails included in our package. when we asked what was in them she didn't know and said her colleague who normally does afternoon tea was on a break.  Then when her colleague returned the cocktails on the menu were actually nothing like the ones she'd given us names of, so I think she was just making them up. The food was poor quality and a really small amount for what would be £29 per person. The cakes and scones were dry and the other cakes clearly not home made. Sandwiches were tiny and bland. I think the men on the table next to us actually left without eating their afternoon tea  or paying as it's obviously a rip off for £29 pp. The whole thing was really below the standard I'd expect.
We were attending an event but were not staying residentialy. The Hotel is excellently situated only a short distance from Newcastle Central Train Station ... and easy access to the main areas of the city ... the service was very "corporate" but efficient and professional ... All public areas well layed out and in good decorative order ... ease of use of facilities were excellent. Beverage service was prompt but matter of fact. Overall a very pleasant experience ... Thank you
Always and absolute pleasure to stay here, whenever we stay, the staff are helpful, friendly and professional, the rooms are spot on, clean and comfortable. We have had lounge access twice now and couldn't imagine not booking it now. Delicious food and drinks in a quiet relaxed atmosphere.Rooms: 5/5
