We are a welcoming family leisure centre with two pools, a two-floor fitness gym, an exercise studio and a sauna suite.

Just moved to the Better Gosforth Leisure Centre and I'm really pleased with the facility. The staff are excellent, friendly, helpful & patient.nWent to the pool for the first time today and the pool itself was excellent and clean; overall, value for money I can't fault it.nI've read reviews about the building being tired, however I imagine the centre relies on donations and Government funding.nA great local facility for the community & staff are a credit to it.
A bit of an update to my previous review since the gym has now been updated. In a nutshell, I've been coming here for over 40 years and I've never had a bad experience. But I have to be honest...nnWhile the new gym equipment is great, the chest fly an essential for any gym is constantly out of order. And the Smith machine is the noisiest I've ever used - needs some serious TLC or replaced. Most other stuff is fine.nnThe mixed changing room situation doesn't work at all. To go to the loo I need to walk through the mixed changing rooms in my gym gear, past mothers and daughters getting changed. I eventually get to the toilets that are flooded with pool water and urine since these are the main mixed toilets for swimmers. It's not great. There should be separate dry toilets other than the disabled w/c for those not swimming. The current situation is insane and nobody is happy with it.nnThe staff are great and the gym has a nice relaxed vibe. I don't use the pool that often these days but it's generally been fine. On the cooler side but I wouldn't describe it as 'cold'. Sadly this building is showing its age though and by modern standards it's a 3* facility at best. The only proper solution is to start again with a new building and I doubt this will happen any time soon.
Nice staff and recently refurbished gym. However, tired and dirty mixed changing rooms, tepid drips of water that pass as showers. Desperately need attention . Update: I've now cancelled my membership. Mixed, dirty changing rooms, and it's impossible to get booked in for my favourite class, Yoga with Colin. They really need to look at how the place is managed.
Pool water is too cold for kids. Water is yellow colour and my kids say’s pool bottom is so dirty. Changing rooms are dirty and cramped too.
I can only comment on the swimming pool. Went there for the first time recently. The building is certainly a bit tired, and the changing rooms are cramped. Nevertheless everything worked fine, and the pool itself is decent enough. The temperature of the water was reasonably warm - anyone expecting a 'leisure pool' temperature will be disappointed as it's not a leisure pool, it's for exercise and swimming lessons!
