What a lovely walk in nature. We were lucky enough to see the frogs crossing the paths. It has the friendliest squirrels, they come really close to say hello. The birds are beautiful too. Lovely little cafe to stop for an ice cream. So many gorgeous flowers and butterflies too.
I thought I knew everything about this park no, but to my surprise it is bigger than I thought t there are plenty of paths around, if you want to get away from the crowded path around the lake. Now lilacs started blooming and there are lots of them on the paper ground above the tearoom. There are many species of plants and flowers specifically, which I love, starting with early spring. What I also enjoy that the park has information board around the park to ensure visitors autonomy and educational experience while they are enjoying the views the walk and the company. The park is pretty much family grandly with lots of lawns to play, table in the shade fur having snacks, and of course children like the lake. Surprisingly the swans and ducks are not frightened with so many people are d and the lake is quite picturesque. They say it was way bigger in earlier days. I suggest that the park exhibits the photo from earlier days on their information boards to celebrate their long history and popularity among visitors of all ages and several generations.
Golden Acre park is a lovely scenic walk, with plenty of wildlife and a council run tea room full of treats, savoury food and hot/cold drink beverages and even dog treats. You can map around the lake and gardens following the path completing about 1k per lap so easy route to get some steps in. Squirrels love monkey nuts and are sociable, if you’re lucky on the walk down from the east car park you may get robins/blue tits flying into your hand for seed as well. There are some amazing Mandarin ducks too. Pictures are over the span of May 2024 to March 2025 but been coming longer. Since early 2025 car parking charges are in effect, be advised you’ll need an app or contacted card for the meter I think. I used app and did Apple Pay which was no issue and cheap enough
Very beautiful place to be near by nature. Always good to see peaceful environment. Nice to roam, good place. Walk , chit chat and roam.
We had a very nice morning walking around the park with our dog. There’s a few car parks on either side of the park with plenty of spaces. They’re free to park. Lots of guided paths to follow with maps everywhere. The wildfowl lake was popular with the kids! The gardens are currently bare due to winter, but I’m sure it’ll be beautiful to visit in the summer.nThere’s a dog friendly cafe with a selection of cakes and hot/cold drinks, and ice cream! Looking forward to returning in the summer season for music on Sundays!
