We enjoyed walking round the country park with my mum's 12 year old Golden Retriever. It was a lovely morning and it was great to see lots of people and dogs enjoying themselves.nI now have my own dog, and we go around Oakwell almost daily. It is a wonderful place to walk, with a variety of different walks.
Great play area for kids and a nice walk through the woods with a field in the middle. Will be good for walking dogs! There's also a little refreshment hut with a good selection of ice cream flavours!
I visited today with 5 children, during the summer holidays.nIt was very busy, but managed to get parked in the overflow carpark. This is not wheelchair friendly but the other two car parks are.nThe shop, and gallery area are all suitably accessible . We did not go in them.nnThe toilets are clean and stocked well there is also a disabled and baby change in these facilities. The floor was a little muddy but outside was muddy.nnWe were not visiting the hall or gardens today, there was a trail going on in the gardens, at a cost of a £1 per trail sheet .nnWe walked down towards the stream, there are two ways one which is accessible , and one with stair's.nThe children had great fun exploring the pathways and playing in the stream.nnWe sat at one of the many picnic benches and ate our lunch. We then had a run around the parklands playing football and frisbee .nnThere are lots of dog walkers, so it is a great place for all the family and dogs to visit.nnAll the children were very excited to go in the woodland play ground, they enjoyed building dens and playing on the slide and monkey bars. There is some broken equipment that has not been replaced for a long time now .nnThere is also a fenced of playground with the usual swings , roundabouts and climbing frames.nnThere is another larger car park down near the visitor center too.nnWe did not go inside the visitor center but we did enjoy an ice cream and a cuppa. £12.40 for 4 cones and a tea.nThere are two toilets that are clean and accessible with baby change.
This review is about The Willows cafe at Oakwell Hall - December 2024nnThe Willows has now taken over the Cafe near the hall. The cafe people are now helpful and kind, quite the opposite from what it was before. Food good. Prices Moderate. But most of all it is now staffed by nice, kind people. We have been to the new cafe several times and the staff attitude has completed changed from the unhelpful people who used to run it. Food now delivered quickly and efficiently even when there are a lot of customers waiting.nOakwell Hall is a wonderful place to walk dogs and now dogs are allowed in the cafe whilst you eat there - previously they were only allowed to go to the counter.nnWell done Oakwell Staff for making eating at Oakwell a pleasure again.nnPlease pass this review onto those who run The Willows cafe and to the people who run Oakwell including the Kirklees council.
A regular visitor to Oakwell Hall and Park with my dog as some fantastic walks and great open spaces to throw a ball.
