My third pair of Kuhl jeans, they really do take a battering. Been shopping here since 2006, just after it opened. If my wife and I had both used The Great Outdoors, she would've been converted. Bought my 5th pair of boots or shoes from here. In fact most of my kids early lives have been spent inside this shop. Fantastic Costa set in the far side, bit like the old one that used to be upstairs, once upon a time.
John G was very helpful and knowledgeable in the tents and camping department. He gave us the best deal on a family tent and appropriate accessories. The kids really enjoyed trying out the horse riding simulation too. A very pleasant and successful shopping trip.
Good sized store. The range of clothing for men and women is great, the kids range is a bit more limited. With GO Outdoors you can't complain about their price matching - I got a great bargain on a pair of shoes today.
Quite well stocked store, but my complaint is that customer service is pretty much non existent. I wanted to buy a hiking backpack, asked the staff for advice, and all I got was: “all backpacks are there”. I’m pretty sure no one at the store has any experience of said outdoors.
Store itself was neat and tidy, some good offers. Loved the new layout. However, I went to look at the fishing section which again was stocked and layed out good. I had to wait 10mins for a member of staff to come and help me with what I wanted to buy. Calls were put out but no one came for what seemed like a age. Another problem was the heat upstairs, they had Aircon units on the go but it was hot.
The actual shop itself is quite cool. And the things they sell seem to be reasonable quality, but the way they pretend items cost less than they do is really sneaky and makes me want to go somewhere more transparent. There were some walking boots I wanted to buy. The label said they were £89, down from £135. I got to the till and she asked if I had Go Outdoors card. I said no. She asked if I wanted one. I said no. She said it cost £135. I said it was in the sale and cost £89. She said it only cost £89 if I had a card. It didn't say this anywhere on the item or on any signs. I said okay to the card and she revealed the card cost £5 itself. So the actual price I had to pay was £94. Unnecessary complications and little backhanded tricks to get my money will not make me go back again.
Large go outdoors has lots of variety, one of the biggest stores I have been to, great selection of tents outside so you can see what your buying and good discount if you pay for card.
They do have some bargains here! Bought my other half a pair of Mammut B2 shoes here for £55 and a pair of LaSportiva B3 boots for my self only £145. Can’t believe my eyes when I saw the price tag.
The Coventry branch has had a vast overhaul and is very smart. It has a great range of outdoor equipment from camping to sports riding, fishing, cycling, climbing, walking etc. I was slightly let down by ordering items online for click and collect, which I then discovered were out of stock. There is an issue with their stock control link with the website and even in store, so be aware!! Been back several times and the store is well labelled and spacious and an improved range of stock. They have now moved the bicycle section up stairs, and the walking boots downstairs.
I go fishing Brilliant place to get all my bits the staff are all ways very helpful and a rareaty ¹smiling recommend highly
