Absolutely lovely park. Like the woods area surrounding the main park. Early morning walks are nice and quiet. There are few dog walkers here and there, but it depends on when you go. Busy at the weekends.nnLike the new gym area, would be nice if there were more apparatuses but can't grumble too much about the current selection.
Lovely local park. Great for picnic, sports, walks, exploring. Woodland walks bring you so much closer to nature. You will find sports facilities, gym equipment, children area, cafe and many more attractions to really make your day.
It's a beautiful park with a very touching back-story. The land was donated by H.W.Forster, first MP for Bromley and later Governor-General of Australia. This was in memory of his two sons who died in the Great War, one in the early days, the other just before the end.
There is so much going on in this almost-hidden park. On a map you might see a big field with a strip of trees around the edge, but there’s much more going on.nnThe grassy main area is the size of several football pitches with a tarmac path all the way round that’s perfect for kids to bike / scooter on. It has two playgrounds, slightly annoyingly separated by the toilet/changing block. There’s also a nature space.nnThe trees around the side are deeper than expected and verge on a wood on the western side with their own paths, separate from the main area.nnTwo secondary grass areas are perfect of you want to be a bit more secluded, have a picnic under trees, etc.nnThe park can be accessed from all sides via paths, though Longhill is probably the best for parking as you don’t have to walk uphill and it is closed off at the southern end, so quiet.
The pavements are not in best of conditions centre is better than outer. There new areas in the park like fitness equipment, a cafe with shelter/seating and opposite end is a garden to relax in made by volunteers.
