A gorgeous oasis in the middle of the concrete jungle of The Barbican. Some lovely orchids & flowers out when I visited this march giving a pop of colour to the greenery of the planting. Plenty of seating about to sit a while & take in the tropical surroundings or grab a coffee at the bar inside the gardens.nFree to enter via tickets you can book in advance online.nOnce finished wandering the conservatory there are several eateries & bars within the centre.
The second largest greenhouse in London. It is a tropical oasis. You can walk, look at different plants, sit in a quiet corner on a bench and drink coffee or a cocktail. The area is small, but there are many plants. I really liked the room with cacti, but it was closed and we looked out the window. A place for a walk once.
Went here not knowing we had to book tickets in advance, which made looking for it relatively complicated. When we found out we had to, the soonest was 2 weeks out. Glad we were able to because this was so beautiful to see. Love the different varieties of plants and how well kept they are.
The only thing that can make brutalist architecture look appealing is nature and greenery, and this place has that in spades! It’s free to visit although you do have to book a slot in advance, and it’s a lovely place to relax and contemplate. It’s even warm in the winter!
A hidden gem in the heart of London! The Barbican Conservatory is a lush, tranquil escape from the city's buzz. Walking into the space feels like entering a tropical oasis—towering palms, exotic plants, koi ponds, and peaceful corners everywhere you look. It's not huge, but it’s beautifully curated and perfect for a slow, relaxing stroll.nnWhat makes it even more special is its location within the iconic Brutalist architecture of the Barbican Centre—such an unexpected contrast that actually works really well. The atmosphere is calm, almost meditative, and it’s a great spot for plant lovers, photographers, or anyone just needing a moment of peace.nnEntry is free, but you do need to book in advance especially on weekends. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and everything was well-maintained.nnHighly recommend visiting if you're in London—it’s one of those places that feels like a secret, even though it's right in the middle of the city.
