Hyde Park CornernnHyde Park Corner is one of London’s most recognisable landmarks, sitting at the south-east corner of the vast Hyde Park and serving as a gateway between the park’s sweeping green spaces and the grand avenues of the city. It’s more than just a busy roundabout – it’s a place where history, architecture, and scenery converge.nnAt its heart stands the Wellington Arch, a striking neoclassical monument originally built as a victory arch in the 19th century. Today, it houses exhibitions and offers a viewing gallery at the top, giving visitors a unique perspective over the royal parks and the surrounding streets. Flanked nearby is the Australian War Memorial and the moving New Zealand Memorial, quiet spaces that invite reflection amid the constant rhythm of the city.nnThe scenery is a blend of urban grandeur and natural calm. Step away from the traffic and you’re greeted by the openness of Hyde Park itself – broad avenues lined with plane trees, expanses of grass perfect for a picnic, and paths that lead you toward the Serpentine lake. On a clear day, the contrast is striking: the skyline of Knightsbridge and Mayfair in the distance, softened by the greenery that stretches across one of London’s most beloved parks.nnHyde Park Corner also serves as a perfect starting point for exploration. From here, you can wander into Green Park and on towards Buckingham Palace, or meander westward deeper into Hyde Park. For those drawn to history and monuments, the area is rich with symbolism and stories; for those seeking peace, the parkland provides a welcome retreat.nnIn essence, Hyde Park Corner is both a crossroads and a destination – a place where London’s past and present are etched into stone and landscape, offering visitors both spectacle and serenity.
Always incredible please to visit Here Park is amazing: from walks amongst flowers to lake boats, swimming in a lake, taking kids to the Diana Memorial splash water “pool” and restaurant smells with outdoor and indoor dining is just what everyone needs. If you are lucky can even catch horse riding as well as rolle skaters showcasing their moves. But during the summer you get to experience lots of concerts as well in winter - winter wonderland which is on its own magnificent for all ages to experience. I love this park.
A wonderful place for a walk near the numerous architectural monuments of the city and the country. It is cozy in the middle of the park, you can't hear the noise of the city, as if you are transported to the forest, there are only friendly tourists and townspeople around who are leisurely strolling through the park and enjoying the silence and grandeur of the century-old trees, the size of which is sometimes impressive.
This is sort of a bridge of green space connecting Hyde Park with Green Park in Central London. I have enjoyed walking the 'Apsley Way' a fair number of times over the years, taking in the war memorial monuments that dot Hyde Park Corner.nnThese include the centrepiece Wellington Arch, Duke of Wellington equestrian statue, Royal Artillery Memorial, Machine Gun Corp Memorial, Australia Memorial and New Zealand Memorial.nnJust as you enter the Green Park area, you will also find the Commonwealth Memorial Gates and the Bomber Command Memorial. It is a good location for half an hour of monument viewing.
Beautiful monument, celebrating and remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The Royal Artillery hold a fantastic remembrance parade here every year. This years did not disappoint. Grounds are kept well and the park corner is very well looked after and always has a crowd. Highly recommend a trip to see the amazing monuments.
