Food is just edible. The service was nice. THE PORTION SIZE IS CRAZY SMALL. Ordered the mish mash masu for £17 and it came with just 7 pieces of meat 3 chicken 3 lamb and a single shrimp that were overcooked. Jokes. Other dishes were also very small portions. Do not recommend!!!Food: 1/5

Went in with a group of friends and we were greeted by very friendly staff. I was recommended the staff curry, and wasn't disappointed. One of the nicest curries I've had in a long time. Everyone else in the group was happy with their meals. Will definitely be visiting again.

Absolutely delicious. So many dishes that sound interesting, it was hard to choose. They have the standard Indian fare, but plenty of unique dishes too including venison currys. Great beer too.Food: 5/5
I can't recommend The Gurkha enough, there's few restaurants I prefer to eat. This place is perfect. There is nothing I can fault with the food or the service. It tastes incredible, honestly nothing better in Chelmsford that I have found! Service and the people goes above and beyond. The guy that delivers is lovely and the whole restaurant service are so nice! We're regular customers and recently changed our ordering habits to go through the website to help their profits rather than just eat, the restaurant thanked us with a delightful starter on the house. One of our favourite restaurants in Chelmsford. Always made to feel so welcome whenever we go there, and the food is brilliant. Caters very well to vegans too which is hugely appreciated. Couldn’t recommend more!Food: 5/5
Visited early on a Friday evening, around 6.15 and only one other table was occupied. I ordered the Lansun Piro Hari venison and my wife had the Kukhura Lababdar chicken We also had the tandoori roti, mushroom rice and onion bhaji. First impression was that the roti was thin and small and covered in oil/ghee/butter? The venison dish was a rather unfortunate shade of brown with a decent amount of venison in a LOT of sauce and the chicken dish had pieces of very pale chicken, not the vibrand red, with charred edges you'd expect of tandoori chicken. My wife said the chicken dish was only just warm with very little taste. Whereas mine was warm but had no taste! I'd ordered my alien-to-me dish based on the description; "Diced venison steak grilled in the clay oven, cooked in a unique style curry leaves, mustard seeds, Nepalese spices with a touch of coconut cream" so felt pretty disappointed. We've not been here for a few years and thought we'd give it another go but with such an uninspiring meal and with so many choices of restaurants in Chelmsford we won't be returning.
Absolutely delicious! The food is so good and the owner is extremely nice and friendly. You get honest food and a delicious experience. Most of the vegetarian dishes are also vegan. So perfect for vegetarians and vegans. I love it there. Vegetarian options: Most vegetarian dishes are also vegan.
