We went to the Storytime with Santa with my 5 year old, and had a wonderful time. The Christmas crafts beforehand were lovely, and the storytime was absolutely delightful, a slice of real Christmas magic. Santa was brilliant with the children, and so lovely and kind when we bumped into him beforehand in the cafe, my daughter was spellbound and it has absolutely made her Christmas!nnThank you to all the wonderful staff, especially the lovely volunteer in the bookshop who was just as magical when showing us the model train and Christmas village, you were so kind and patient with my little one and she really enjoyed herself, especially helping to make the train go and stop.nnThe cafe staff were also great, brilliant service and lovely, tasty food. Thank you!nnSuch an incredible Christmas event, so magical and we hope we can come again next year. We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for other events too.nnThank you all so much.
Lovely place for a stroll round the gardens. Kids would enjoy having a game with the giant chess set.
A great museum for local history. My children often do holiday activities here and always have a great time. The lego stem workshop was brilliant for my boys October 2025 and was extremely reasonable compared to other activities elsewhere.nThe little cafe is great too.nA local gem!
My daughter and I recently visited this new cafe and had a lovely time. We decided to go for a kids’ lunch, which came with a variety of yummy items like a sandwich, fruit, yoghurt, biscuits, and a drink. I also ordered a jacket potato with cheese and beans. It wasn’t my favourite, but it was still quite tasty. The staff however were the highlight, as they couldn’t have been more accommodating. I will definitely come back in the future to have more food & a look around the museum.
We love this museum. It has so much to offer especially for kids and families with frequent events on. For a general visit it's really informative about the local area
