Story

Derby Museums is an independent trust and organisation run for, and on behalf of, the people of Derby.
We provide a museums and arts service, accessible to everyone, and are responsible for the curation of all the artefacts and works of art entrusted to us, and the buildings in which these are held. Our aim as a new organisation is to bring as many of these objects into the public domain as is practically possible and exhibit them in ways that delight and inspire.

Took 3 of our grandchildren here today. They really enjoyed it especially the army section and the mummy and the natural history section. Excellent place.. good disabled access too. Went to the cafe for hot chocolate afterwards..nFree but we gave £10 donation as these places deserve our support
I'm surprised at the exhibitions within this museum, I took my daughters as they had there school project put up as an exhibition.nnThe staff were really polite and friendly and we're very informative with my girls.nnThere were many looked after artifacts, ranging from roman, Anglo saxon , Egyptian and many more, to which I was actually glued looking at.
I visited Derby Museum and Art Gallery for the 'Displaced: From the Nile to the Derwent' exhibition.nIt was incredible! It was such an amazing experience and educational for all ages.nEntry was free but a £5 donation is recommended which I was more than happy to pay on leaving.nThere are 3 floors to this building that have natural history pieces on display, as well as some local history 'Allenton Hippo.'nWell worth a visit, you won't be disappointed!
It is a very nice museum. I really enjoyed it. Alot to see and they have cute little resting areas with books and such for the adults and kids
I was delighted to finaly visit this great museum. I wasn't disappointed, and it was well worth th 3 hour drive from Norfolk .nThe staff were very welcoming, knowledgeable, and informative . Personally, I was most interested I the art gallery .nJoseph Wright of Derby was a true master of his trade in my opinion . You could say the UKs answer to Caravaggio . An expert in chiaroscuro art . I love his paintings the ones I have seen that is . Just as I love Caravaggio .nMost enjoyable day and as a added bonus you can visit Derby Cathedral 5 muns walk away and pay your respects to Bess of Hardwick . What's not to like
