My wife and I booked a week here in our touring caravan, we were really looking forward to it as we've stayed around the area before and love it and the site was advertised as the quiet park. We arrived and checked in, told which pitch we were allocated. The first problem as you can see from the pictures was due to being packed in so closely and some inconsiderate parking there was no way I could back the van into the pitch, I'm not the best, but I'm not bad at backing the van into tight spots. Anyway after unhooking and motor moving the van in, we got set up. It was quite a sloping pitch with the drain for grey waste at the top!! I set the van up as high as possible but the shower ect wouldn't drain. We were pitched next to a kids play park, very convenient if you were away with children we did't have any apart for the 4 legged variety. Teenagers were on the part till late on the 1st night then we were woken up by young children playing early the following morning. I might be a bit grumpy but I don't mind youths hanging around chatting or kids playing and laughing, I just don't really want to be right next to them when I'm trying to relax and unwind. I did ask at reception if we could move to another pitch and was more than happy to pay extra, I was told they had nothing available! My other half who was a little more annoyed than me went to speak to them and amazingly was offered a choice of 4 pitches.....we moved but it was a pitch that was only hard standing for the van and grass for the awning, so every time it rained we were walking through mud to get in and out, but it was a level pitch and the waste water drained. We did try the on-site bar one evening but we couldn't even get a chair so stood at the bar and downed a reasonable pint. The on-site shop was ok but didn't sell any alcohol!! Essential on a week away surely . Still love the area but we won't be going back to this site. I'm sure it's great if you have a young family but I definitely wouldn't recommend it for a couple.
The WORST fish and chips from "Roy's Plaice" I have EVER had. Even my dustbin 18 month old child launched a chicken nugget across the room. Portions are tiny, chips reheated from last week, pickled eggs been out of date for probably 12 months. Half of our order missing. Definitely not worth the walk from twitchen house.Rooms: 2/5
This campsite was really good because there was great service the food was great and the staff was really accommodating and understanding I met some great people whilst on this trip and we came again for another year after that we went on great walks and made many memories overall great campsiteRooms: 5/5
Camped here. Great venue if you dont mind hills. Views are spectacular. Toilets and showers are clean. Hot water wasn't that hot, but not cold. Shop on site for basics. Chip shop on-site £9.50 for cod £6 for 6 small chicken nuggets not with chips that's extra nice but expensive!Location: 5/5
Pitches were too small for large tents, road was too close and muddy. Other residents were noisy and did not respect quiet times. understaffed and often vandalised, some toilet and shower cubicles had holes in walls/doors missing toilet seats or toilet roll/holders. Maintenance team were mostly hard working when they were present but clearly needs more investment considering the pitch fees and density.
Would never stay here again. They state you can use the facilities on all three parks, but if you have children, there is a very dangerous country lane. You have to walk along to get to them. The pool is small, and when we got in, we could feel hair floating in and on the water. The showers are from the dark ages. If you like golf, it's for you, but otherwise, avoid at all costs. Nearby activities: None despite what they say. Safety: Very, very poor. Dog-friendliness: Very poor, you need to walk miles just to let your dog off the lead for a good run. Disgusting.
Camped here for two weeks in August this year. The location is great and a short drive of around 15 minutes to the beach....however,parking was busy. Due to the nature of the terrain from the holiday park to the beach, a pleasant walk down to the beach, but one helluva walk back up to the park. It's very hilly. The website describes the holiday park as being in a 'gently rolling grassy spot'.....well, with a 45 degree incline to walk to and from the site amenities, is not gently rolling, it's hilly. If you have any mobility issues, this site is probably NOT for you! Once at the amenities, they are all on one level. The 'just across the road' sister site of twitchen house, is a walk up and down a hill and crossing a dangerous country lane where cars were seen to be going too fast down the hill and round the bend. If you decide to drive instead, for your own safety and or mobility issue, you won't find much parking on the other site. Indeed, woolacombe main site, is even further away and has even less parking available. The 'arcade' had two working machines in it. The others were out of order or not switched on. The indoor pool was ok but a bit mucky. The one toilet in the pool area was very tiny. The shop seemed well stocked. The bar area was good and the fish and chips on site were ok. The service team were helpful when I had an issue with my ehu. But.....the bit of ground where we picked C10, was so muddy in the rain, the car got stuck twice and there was so much mud from the car tyres that it made it very slippy underfoot when going to and from the washing facilities and toilets. I reported this, but nothing was done whilst we were there. Either the WHOLE road needs to be tarmacked OR put down temp road or path to access ALL pitches. I was disappointed generally as I felt the descriptions given on the website didn't really reflect the true situation. I have learnt my lesson to ask more questions next time before booking. This was our holiday for the year and we had saved up the whole year for it. I was gutted that it wasn't what I was expecting. Other than that the site toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy and the washing up area was undercover. There is an extortionate launderette and also a lockable charging point for phones. There is no facility for free freezing blocks. You have to purchase blocks from the shop for freezing. Walkability: Unless you are fit and mobile, this site is NOT for you. The hills are steep and the walk to the other sites are also up and down hills and not just across the road. You have to walk round the golf course first. The entrances to both sites are just across the road, but accommodation to amenities is further. If you like walking and like hill walking, this is the perfect retreat for you.
Giving one star as no stars doesn’t appear to be an option. Horrific first evening. 12 Yr old had has pound coin stolen from the pool table and shortly afterwards my 18 Yr old and friend had their drinks whisked away from them by security who said they were underage, despite the fact that I was there verifying their age. Bar manager argued with me rudely, receptionist was kind and helpful, duty manager came and told me about their policy and refused to either give a refund or hand me the two drinks. Daylight robbery of £10. Day 2: one stunt scooter stolen from our pitch. Child 2 run off the road had to dive into hedge between camp sites. Driver didn’t stop. I wonder what day 3 has in store
As part of our holiday based at Woolacombe Bay, you also get access to Easewell Farm. We decided to try out the Skittles and Bowls which were exclusive to that site. The poor receptionist was having to spin lots of plates to unlock the venue, then find us the equipment. So that delayed us starting. Once playing the facilities themselves could do with some attention, worn décor, and a roof light hanging dangerously from a chain. The whole site could do with more staff, to actually give those residents a decent experience. The local "pub" on site appeared to only open on weekends also. And the chipshop limited hours. Given it was summer peak I expected it to be open
This was our second year at Easewell. The location is great with good walks around the coast, to woolacombe and Lee with the village of Mortehoe just down the road. The staff at Easewell were great, including the bar staff and site manager, and Margaret is really helpful. The bar is nice and well priced. You also get access to the other two sister sites, Twitchen and Woolacombe Bay. But... The facilities are really tired and basic and in need of improving. Hot water is inconsistent, showers poor, the taps on the sinks either struggle to turn on or turn off, and again, hot water is inconsistent. The women's showers has no where to put anything other than a single hook. The mens has a fold down small shelf. All are push buttons, but most only stay on for seconds. For those camping, the facilities are quite a trek and camping is very sloping. To give the staff credit, the facilities were kept very clean. The site has a large population of crows and magpies who seem to enjoy the dawn chorus competing with each other to be the loudest. We had a takeaway from Roy's Plaice and would not repeat the experience. As nice as the guys were, they had unfortunately not much in stock and what they had come out of a freezer. We did see others have food from them later in the holiday, and it did look much better than ours. Perhaps we caught them on a bad day. A point to really note is that Easewell is very expensive. Having looked at Twitchen, we could have had a static for £100 more that we paid for camping. A lesson learnt. All in all, the people were great, but the Woolacombe Bay group has a lot of work to get Easewell up to standard, especially when the cost is taken into account. Will we go back to Easewell for a third time? No.
