Fantastic Sunday lunch here! One of the best I have had out. Lovely atmosphere with the open fire, and incredibly friendly staff, with a lot of local knowledge on the food being served. Every dish me and my party ordered was piping hot, delicious and very beautifully presented. Will definitely be coming back; especially as they are dog friendly!
Fantastic place for a meal. Excellent food and service. Only 2 floor staff but they were very good and made sure everyone was seen to. Only got one name Liam and the other was the bar man but both were excellent. Well worth a visit.Food: 5/5
Fantastic food, incredibly strong cocktails. The velouté was better than the parfait, but we shared an enormous steak plate which was absolutely delicious.Food: 5/5
Picked this pub based on both TripAdvisor and Google reviews. For a start, we had to book two weeks in advance - that's a great start. - Food is great, no default here. - Spirit selection is great. Could recognise some of the brands you can only find from Amathus Drinks shops in London. - Wine selection is less attractive by the glass. By the bottle, prices could scare average pub goers. - Beer selection is good. - Venue could do with a little refurb outside and inside - Service is good and somehow attentive and efficient. Somehow because they were only two folks running the floor, which includes taking orders, running food, making drinks... In today's hospitality terms, an industry struggling with finding staff, it was a pretty brilliant job. My advice to them on the above last point: get some of your chefs to help you run the food to release pressure on the service. More FOH time on the floor means more effective drinks ordering, an important source of revenue per table. We had the Sunday Roast and highly recommend, excellent.
Fanstatic food in a lovely country pub. Excellent service and got to try a wicked home-made cocktail! Absolutely would reccomend!
Possibly the best pub meal I have ever had. Wine selection was brilliant. Service was excellent. Food was incredible. Starter, mains and desert - all of it. Dog friendly and ample parking Highly recommend. 10/10
We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here, can't recommend it enough. The food was simply superb - quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Service was excellent too, with the chef personally checking we had enjoyed the meal, and happy to answer any questions we had.
One of the best meals we have ever had anywhere in quite extensive international travels. Excellent food, excellent service, extensive bar. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options depend on available produce and products. Parking: Sufficient parking Dietary restrictions: Catered for vegetarian and dairy intolerant guests
Excellent gastro pub, kudos to the chef/menu creator. The duck liver parfait starter, the chicken/chorizo terrine and the Gressingham duck breast were all top notch. The focaccia + garlic butter too was a big hit. Spacious tables and lovely surroundings, no wonder why Ian Fleming wrote a novel there! Areas to improve: the rib-eye steak was a quite uneven cut so it was overcooked on one side and chewy on the other, definitely needs work on the cut itself just didn't feel like a rib-eye to me. Also you need one more waiter, the lady that served us was a superstar but she just can't serve, collect dishes and take orders for 4 5 tables at the same time.. Also get some better wines on that wine list, all easy things to fix given you've got the main engine working amazingly.
Fantastic food.a little pricey but worth a treat. Could do with a nice larger on tap but if you like ales your good.Food: 5/5
